families, and young people learn from one another and grow together.

Position Overview

BCCFSS is seeking compassionate and community-minded Volunteer Senior Engagement

Program Facilitators to support programs designed for older adults and elders within the

community.

This role focuses on creating welcoming spaces where seniors can connect, share knowledge,

and participate in meaningful activities that foster belonging, wellness, and community

engagement. Volunteers will also help support opportunities for intergenerational connection

between elders, youth, and families.

Responsibilities

• Help facilitate social and recreational activities for seniors

• Support conversations, storytelling, and cultural sharing opportunities

• Assist with planning and preparing program materials and activities

• Create a warm and welcoming environment where seniors feel valued and included

• Encourage participation and community connection among participants

• Support intergenerational activities that bring seniors, youth, and families together

Ideal Candidates

We welcome volunteers with experience or interest in:

• Social work

• Community development

• Recreation programming

• Gerontology or senior support services

• Cultural programming and storytelling

Community members who enjoy building connections with older adults and supporting inclusive

community spaces are encouraged to apply.

Skills and Qualities

• Friendly, patient, and compassionate approach

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Respect for elders and appreciation for cultural knowledge

• Ability to facilitate conversations and group activities

• Reliability and collaborative spirit

Time Commitment

Flexible volunteer opportunities are available depending on program schedules.
