Job Purpose

The Senior Development Coordinator plays a vital role in driving fundraising success, increasing the organization’s visibility, and strengthening community engagement. This position blends fundraising, communications, marketing, event coordination, and donor-facing work. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller, a relationship builder, and a highly organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-oriented environment.

Key Activities

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and deliver integrated marketing campaigns that promote programs, fundraising initiatives, and organizational priorities.
  • Create compelling written and visual content, including social media posts, newsletters, blog articles, impact stories, web content, and promotional materials.
  • Manage and update the website and social media channels, ensuring consistent branding and messaging.
  • Support media relations by preparing press releases, media kits, and outreach lists.

Events & Community Engagement

  • Plan, organize, and manage the execution of events that support the organization’s mission and financial sustainability, including fundraising events, donor stewardship events, community outreach, and third-party initiatives.
  • Coordinate event logistics, timelines, marketing plans, attendee communications, and volunteer support.
  • Produce event materials such as invitations, signage, programs, and sponsor recognition assets.
  • Represent the organization at community events and networking opportunities as needed.

Fundraising & Donor Support

  • Collaborate with the ED and Fractional Fundraising Consultant to execute the organization’s fundraising strategy, including donor communications, stewardship materials, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Create marketing collateral for donor appeals, sponsorship packages, impact reports, and storytelling initiatives.
  • Assist with donor engagement activities, including stewardship events, sponsor deliverables, and campaign updates.
  • Research, identify and secure new donors, both individual and corporate, to expand the organization’s support base and funding opportunities.

General Duties

  • Understand the global and local Dress for Success mission and vision;
  • Collaborate daily with other organizational functions (Operations and Communications);
  • Participate in the delivery of core programming as necessary.

Skills

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field;
  • 3-5 years of experience in a relevant position and industry;
  • Excellent communication, networking and public speaking skills;
  • Proficiency in using the Google Suite;
  • Bilingual - verbal and written (English/French);

Work Environment

This position will be based out of the Dress for Success Ottawa Boutique and will be exposed to both a sedentary office environment along with a physical retail environment.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time position based on a work week of 37.5 hours per week. A flexible schedule including the ability to work evenings and Saturdays, as needed, is required.
