• Excellent strategic planning skills
• Experience with accounting in the non-profit sector, including development and management of

the organization’s budget
• Familiarity with the non-profit sector landscape
• Experience working with accounting software
• Past board experience
• Strong problem solving skills and ability to work ably as a team member with the HelpAge Canada finance

staff
• CPA, CMA, or other professional accounting certification
• Fluency in English

Assets
• Background in issues related to older persons and aging-related issues in Canada and globally
• Fluency in French

Seeking a Treasurer HelpAge Canada

HelpAge Canada works in partnership with other organizations in Canada and internationally to improve the quality of life of vulnerable older persons and their communities, so that they can lead secure, healthy, active and dignified lives. In Canada, HelpAge Canada acts as the backbone of the network of Community- Based Senior Serving organizations by convening, informing policy, scaling impact, and strengthening the provision of community-based programs and services nationally. HelpAge Canada also administers the Age Better granting stream.

HelpAge Canada's international activities include community-focused sponsorship programs that provide support for the well-being of older persons abroad and foster community-led income generating activities. We also support emergency relief efforts in countries such as Ukraine, Ethiopia, and Pakistan. Help Age Canada is a founding member of HelpAge International, the London-based hub of a network of over 80 organizations dedicated to older persons from around the world.
