
Route Marshal Volunteers (Event Walk-A-Thon Guides)
Yonge Street Mission (YSM) is seeking Route Marshal Volunteers to assist with our upcoming Winter Walk for Neighbours in Need on Saturday, February 7, 2026, an event supporting vulnerable youth, families, and adults! A volunteer confirmation letter of reference will be provided!
VOLUNTEER ROLE/DUTIES:
As Winter Walk Support - Route Marshals, volunteers will work in pairs at key intersections or turns to help walkers safely navigate the 2 km and 5 km routes along Bloor, Parliament, Gerrard, and Yonge Streets. Responsibilities include:
- Directing walkers who are lost or need help on the route
- Cheering or using jingle bells/other musical instruments to motivate walkers
- Assisting with other tasks to guide and support walkers to the finish line
- Event Day: Check in at 227 Bloor St. for orientation, and pick up your name tag, toque, and safety vest
- Role Conditions: Light lifting, bending, reaching, and standing/walking outside in cold weather
POSITION HOURS/ COMMITMENT:
- Date: Saturday, February 7, 2026
- Duration: 3:30pm-7:30pm
- Commitment: One day, for duration of event, from 3:30pm-7:30pm
- Location: 227 Bloor Street East and 270 Gerrard Street East./ 270
