Unpaid Volunteer Position

This is a Volunteer position specifically for people who live and/or work in the North Etobicoke area.

We are actively recruiting community members from the Rexdale/North Etobicoke area to join our Community Liaison Committee that works directly with our Board of Directors.

Location(s): Virtual or occasional events at 8 Taber Road or 21 Panorama Crt.

Time Commitment: must be available to attend quarterly meetings on a Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m (once every 3 months).

Position Overview:

We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Community Liaison Committee. As a committee member, you will play an essential role in enhancing the health Centre's outreach efforts, engaging with the community, and providing feedback to ensure our services meet the diverse needs of those we serve. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to positive social impact and work alongside community leaders, healthcare professionals, and local organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in regular committee meetings to discuss community engagement strategies and goals.
  • Provide insights and feedback on how the health Centre can better serve the community.
  • Collaborate with the health Centre’s staff and stakeholders to promote programs, services, and initiatives to community members.
  • Advocate for underserved or marginalized groups, ensuring that their voices are heard in the decision-making process.
  • Assist in the development and execution of outreach initiatives, such as events, surveys, and informational campaigns.
  • Help identify and build partnerships with local organizations and community leaders.
  • Contribute to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all community members.
  • Support and promote community health education programs and resources.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for community service, public health, and social justice.
  • Previous experience in community engagement, public health, or volunteer work is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and engage with diverse groups of people.
  • Understanding of the challenges and needs of underserved or marginalized populations is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn about the Health Centre’s services and community health issues.
  • Ability to commit to regular meetings and active participation in committee activities.
