About the Position
The Resume Support Volunteer plays a vital role in helping job seekers strengthen their employment readiness by improving the quality, clarity, and effectiveness of their resumes. This position works closely with the Integrated Employment Services Team to support Active Clients in reviewing, updating, and creating resumes that align with their job search goals and meet current employer expectations. By offering personalized guidance and practical resume support, the volunteer helps clients better highlight their skills, experience, and accomplishments, ultimately enhancing their competitiveness in the job market.

This role supports WoodGreen’s broader employment services, which include one‑on‑one employment counselling, job development and matching, professional development opportunities, resume and cover letter support, interview preparation, and access to essential job search resources. Through this contribution, the Resume Support Volunteer helps ensure clients are well‑prepared, confident, and equipped to pursue meaningful employment or training opportunities.

Responsibilities
As a Resume Support Volunteer with Integrated Employment Services, you will:
• Provide one‑on‑one support to job seekers registered with WoodGreen’s Integrated Employment Services by reviewing, updating, and preparing résumés for job search activities.
• Create a welcoming, supportive, and engaging environment while offering excellent customer service to all clients.
• Share information about WoodGreen’s programs and services and redirect client inquiries to the appropriate WoodGreen staff member or Employment Consultant as needed.
• Support clients in scheduling appointments with staff or registering for workshops and information sessions.
• Maintain client privacy and confidentiality at all times while adhering to all agency policies and procedures.

Skill Development Goals
• Strengthen customer service and communication abilities to provide clear guidance and build supportive relationships with job seekers.
• Develop and enhance customer service, teamwork, organizational, and communication skills to support effective client interactions and collaboration.
• Develop deeper knowledge of employment resources, labour market trends, and community services to better support clients’ job search needs
Qualifications
• Strong understanding of résumé writing principles and current best practices.
• Experience providing customer service, ideally in a diverse or multicultural environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Reliable, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast‑paced employment services setting.
• Strong judgment, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills.
• Previous experience with pre‑employment or résumé support is considered an asset.
• Proficiency in an additional language is considered an advantage

Eligibility Requirements
• Requires English proficiency at a minimum CLB Level 5–6 or higher
• Able to volunteer on site between Monday to Friday
• Be 18 years of age or older

Training will be provided. Training includes orientation to WoodGreen, program specific training sessions, and documentation procedures.

• Two references (1 personal, 1 professional)
• Vulnerable Sector Screening (instructions provided after acceptance)

Commitment
10-15 hours per week for 3 months
