JOB POSTING - RESEARCHER [MIXED METHODS SPECIALIST] FULL-TIME PERMANENT POSITION 12 MONTH CONTRACT ABOUT THE BLACK HEALTH ALLIANCE The Black Health Alliance (BHA) is a community-led registered charity working to improve the health and well-being of Black communities in Canada. We centre Black communities in defining the barriers and challenges affecting our health and well-being. We provide a platform for Black people to establish a common voice around systemic problems and we work to mobilize the tools, skills and resources needed to co-design and implement solutions that improve health outcomes. ROLE OVERVIEW Reporting to the Manager, Research and Policy, the Researcher will provide focused, strategic, and operational support to drive research activities aligned with the strategic priorities and domains of change of the Black Health Alliance. These include, but are not limited to: addressing the social and structural determinants of health (food, income, and housing security, and early childhood development); tackling health inequities related to chronic disease, mental health and addictions, and reproductive and sexual health; confronting anti-Black racism in healthcare and social services; and strengthening access, community infrastructure, and the quality of health and social support systems to better meet the needs of Black communities in Canada. Focus on Research Stemming from the development of our 2022 - 2025 strategic plan, the Black Health Alliance is working to develop its research and policy initiatives. The organization will build on its local and regional success in Ontario, as well toward building a national presence. The Researcher will provide leadership for and contribute to the development of the organization's overall strategy for research and policy and will support the design, planning, and implementation of needs assessments, small and large applied research projects. ROLE SCOPE As Researcher, your responsibility is to provide support to the Black Health Alliance including but not limited to the following: Research
â Engage in primary and secondary research tasks, including contributing to the conceptualization, design and implementation of research and policy initiatives (independently and working collaboratively with a research team). These activities may include a range of methods, such as literature reviews, interviews and focus groups, jurisdictional comparisons, quantitative and qualitative analyses, or policy

analysis. For this role specifically, demonstrated research experience that supports the implementation of policy work is an asset. This would include research focused on influencing policy, understanding how policies are implemented, and conducting research that supports policy-focused outcomes
â Contribute to the strategic work of the Black Health Alliance through identified priorities on an annual basis through a variety of research, policy and knowledge translation activities
â Produce written materials (reports, think pieces, blogs, op-eds) as required for a range of stakeholder audiences
Coordination & Planning â Support the development of comprehensive project plans, lead project
implementation and development, as well as project review and evaluation â Cultivate and maintain key partnerships to enhance and expand the organization's
national reach â Support research and engagement strategies, and build public will to advance
systems change â Guide and contribute to the development of all project outputs â Support the planning and implementation of ongoing national consultations with
Black children, youth and their families, service providers, and public sector decision-makers
â Create and manage progress reports for stakeholders REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
â Post-secondary education at the Masters level in health sciences, public health, education, or related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience. Deep understanding of social determinants of health, inequities, and Canada’s healthcare and social service systems
â Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills for diverse audiences. â Ability to mobilize knowledge and build relationships with stakeholders, including
Black communities, using an anti-oppressive framework. â Skilled in literature reviews, environmental scans, qualitative/quantitative data
analysis, and reporting. â Analytical ability to synthesize information into clear, actionable insights. â Proficient in software, databases, and presentation tools; multilingual skills are an
asset. â Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet
deadlines in fast-paced settings. â Self-motivated with sound judgment and problem-solving skills. â Understanding of evaluation procedures and components â Proficient in software, databases, and presentation tools; multilingual skills are an

INFORMATION ABOUT THE POSITION Work Conditions
â Black Health Alliance is currently using flexible hybrid working model, where employees can work from home or in our offices
â This role will require in-person interactions with stakeholders â The standard work week is Monday to Friday, some evening or weekend hours are
anticipated, 37.5 hours per week â Changes to shift start and end times may be required based on operational needs
Salary
â Remuneration will be dependent on qualifications and experience â Annual Salary Range: $65,100 - $78,120 â Black Health Alliance offers extended health benefits and wellness spending
