1. Background
Utz K’aslemal is implementing a community‑driven health initiative in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, aimed at strengthening sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services for Indigenous peoples while advancing gender and health equity and social inclusion. Robust, mixed‑methods data are implemented to monitor progress, assess impact, and inform adaptive management.
2. Objective of the Consultancy
To provide data collection and analysis expertise that supports the project’s monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) framework. The consultant will work approximately 5-10 hours per week on a flexible, hourly‑rate basis.

3.1 Study design & protocol
Review and refine mixed‑methods data‑collection instruments (surveys, interview guides, focus‑group protocols), based on existing project Logic Model, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Plan, and Performance Measuring Framework.
3.2 Data collection method analysis
Provide guidance on data collection methods and analysis to ensure gender equity, health equity and social inclusion.
3.3 Data analysis guidance
Perform descriptive statistics, multivariate analyses, and thematic coding; integrate quantitative and qualitative findings using mixed‑methods triangulation.
3.4 Capacity building
Provide virtual trainings to project’s Monitoring and Evaluation team on data collection best practices and interpretation of mixed-methods results.
4. Required Qualifications
- Academic background – Master’s (or higher) in Public Health, Epidemiology, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field.
- Technical expertise – Proven experience with mixed‑methods research, statistical software and qualitative tools including Power BI, Kobo Toolbox, among others.
- Sector experience – At least 3 years working on health‑related projects involving vulnerable populations, gender equity, health equity and social inclusion.
- Geographic relevance – Based in Canada; familiarity with Latin‑American Indigenous contexts is a plus.
- Languages – English and Spanish
5. Submission Requirements
- Cover letter (max 1 page) outlining interest and fit.
- Technical proposal (max 3 pages) describing approach to each scope‑of‑work activity, data‑security measures, and timeline.
- Financial proposal – Hourly rate (CAD) and estimated total cost for 6 months (based on 5–10 hrs/week).
