About us:

Metcalfe Nursery School is a warm, community-focused licensed early learning environment dedicated to nurturing children’s curiosity, creativity, and development. We provide a safe, inclusive, and engaging space where children can grow socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. We have a toddler program 2 days per week and a preschool program 3 days per week. We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) or equivalent to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement engaging, play-based learning activities in accordance with the Ontario Early Years framework
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
  • Observe, document, and assess children’s progress
  • Maintain professional and positive relationships with parents/guardians and children
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a positive team environment
  • Maintain compliance with all provincial regulations, including the Child Care and Early Years Act, (CCEYA) regulations, City of Ottawa regulations and licensing requirements

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent post-secondary education
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, if applicable
  • Minimum of 1 year working in a licensed early learning setting
  • Strong knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act, Ministry Regulations and How Does Learning Happen?
  • Strong knowledge of child development and play-based learning
  • Strong knowledge of inclusive practices and diverse learning needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
  • Ability to communicate well in English, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Respectful understanding of diverse personal and cultural backgrounds
  • Clear Police Vulnerable Sector check within the last 6 months
  • Up to date Standard CPR/First Aid (Level C)
  • Up to date immunization record
