Regional Hub Coordinator (contract, four positions: Atlantic, Pacific/North, Ontario, Prairies)

Baby Ghosts helps small studios and collectives in games and media arts set up as worker cooperatives, so that they own their work and the profits of their labour. We're a registered Canadian charity, and we're building four regional hubs, with hub cities in Halifax, Vancouver, Toronto and Edmonton. Each one needs a coordinator who lives in the region; the hub city is where the in-person work happens, and travel there is covered when the work needs you in person.

This is a five-month build contract, November 2, 2026, to March 31, 2027: $30,000 at a fixed fee ($6,000 a month), about 25 hours a week, which works out to about $55 an hour. It's a contract for services, not employment. You set up the hub, map the region, bring people into the Peer Support network, build a list of studios ready for the next cohort, write the regional toolkit, build the partnership of at least three local organizations that carries the hub after March, with agreements signed by handoff, and hand the hub over with everything the partners need. What you build is what the region keeps.

Three things are conditions of the role: you live in the region and can travel to the hub city when the work needs you there in person (we cover the travel); you're legally able to work in Canada as a contractor; and you can give this about 25 hours a week from November 2 to March 31. Beyond that, we're looking for someone who knows their region's games or arts community, or is a co-op developer, or has built a network somewhere else from nothing; who is comfortable reaching out to people who don't know them yet and following up until something happens; who starts things without being asked; and who works well on their own across a time zone gap. You don't need co-op experience. You don't need to have made a game either.

Baby Ghosts works with creators who are marginalized in games. We especially want to hear from people who are part of those communities in their region: Indigenous, Black and racialized, women and gender-diverse, 2SLGBTQ+, disabled, and rural or remote creators.

The application is a short form: which hub and whether you can travel to its city, your name and email, and three questions about you and the region, each answerable in writing, audio or video.
