ProAction Cops & Kids is a charitable organization that raises funds to support police-led programs for vulnerable, under-resourced youth. At ProAction, we bring cops and kids together in skill-building and mentoring programs to create trust, respect, and safer communities. By funding programs that bring cops and kids together, we help create an environment that promotes mutual understanding and respect and establishes positive relationships that strengthen our community today and for the future.
ProAction established its first chapter in Toronto in 1991 and since this time has opened new chapters in Durham Region, Hamilton, Halton Region, Peel Region and London with plans for further expansion. Over the past 34 years, ProAction has distributed over 10.5 million dollars to support 2,750 police-led youth programs engaging close to 450,000 young people through the leadership of our police partners.
Who we are looking for:
ProAction Cops & Kids is looking for a part-time Regional Coordinator passionate about community safety and bettering the lives of youth, to support its London chapter.
Reporting to the Executive Director and working in collaboration with police officers and a volunteer Chapter Council of local community and business leaders, the Regional Coordinator will be responsible for supporting all chapter activities including the administration and evaluation of program applications, spearheading local fundraising and coordinating Council and Committee meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Applications:
- Support police officers with the program application and budget process.
- Process and score all chapter program applications submitted by police officers.
- Coordinate Grants Committee meetings and present analysis of each program application for funding consideration.
- Document funding decisions in meeting minutes.
- Input application information into the grants database and generate reports as needed.
- Monitor progress of all approved grants ensuring programs are delivered and budgets expensed as approved.
- Receive and reconcile final program and financial reports.
- Conduct program visits and facilitate the completion and evaluation of program surveys.
Fundraising:
- In collaboration with the Chapter Council, coordinate, attend and support regional fundraising activities including events, proposal development, fundraising outreach, etc.
- Prospect and reach out to local sponsors and donors to support fundraising events and programs ensuring sponsors, donors, volunteers are recognized as appropriate.
Financial Support:
- Document and reconcile revenues and payables relating to chapter activity.
- Assist with the development of the annual chapter budget and monitor revenue and expenses to ensure the budget is maintained.
Communications
- Compile program success stories and collaborate with Social Media/Communications Coordinator to feature and promote programs and events.
- Post social media material as appropriate adhering to ProAction’s social media policies.
- Promote ProAction throughout the chapter’s police service and local community.
- Assist in the development of chapter-related marketing material.
Chapter Administration:
- Track and record regional program and fundraising activities.
- Schedule and coordinate Chapter Council and Committee meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in a related field such as community services, project management, marketing, finance.
- Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in a related position.
- Experience with grant writing and event coordination
- Intermediate computer skills including MS Access, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong financial skills and able to manage multiple financial transactions and reconcile budgets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively to all levels of the police community and build support and cooperation.
- Comfortable making presentations to large audiences and interacting with a variety of stakeholders including high-level executives, donors, and police.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven organizational skills, attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Must have valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle. This position will require travel within Southern Central Ontario.
The work week includes 14-21 hours (2-3 days) a week, 9am-5pm, depending on need. Some evening or weekend hours may be required. Our London police partners will provide office space for on-site work at the London Police Headquarters.
