SALARY RANGE: $72,420 - $85,200

South Riverdale Community Health Centre is a non-profit, multi-service organization that provides primary healthcare, social and community outreach services with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention primarily to people of East Toronto. The Recruitment and Employee Development Specialist is responsible for providing day-to-day operational support, focusing primarily on leading recruitment and employee development initiatives. This position plays a critical role in engaging with others, and participates in confidential matters involving decisions related to hiring, compensation, performance management, etc. This position requires a proactive individual who is skilled at multi-tasking, is highly organized, and is committed to fostering a welcoming experience for new and existing employees. Working onsite is required.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage high-volume, full-cycle recruitment across the organization including but not limited to the development of job postings, sourcing, screening, development of questionnaires and scoring matrixes, conducting interviews, reference checks and offers of employment
• Advance inclusive hiring practices and processes
• Carry out recruitment strategies and enhance sourcing to efficiently and effectively fill vacancies across the organization
• Partner with hiring managers to forecast hiring needs and refine recruitment strategies, practices and processes
• Participate in workforce planning
• Lead and further develop engaging orientation and onboarding practices and processes
• Lead organizational wide student placements, developing and managing partnerships, maintaining agreements with academic institutions, etc.
• Lead Canada Summer Jobs initiative
• Develop, analyze and report on relevant HR recruitment metrics i.e. active recruitment, time to fill stats, students, engagement, etc., to improve recruitment processes, retention and overall effectiveness
• Develop and support employee skill development and growth opportunities
• Support employee engagement initiatives i.e. events, internal surveys and feedback evaluations
• Complete monthly, quarterly and annual HR reports as necessary
• Liaise with payroll on employee life-cycle related items, etc.
• Ensure practices comply with applicable legislation i.e. Ontario ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code, and relevant provincial and federal laws, and Collective Agreement
• Participate in and lead HR initiatives and projects
• Effectively engage with employees providing prompt and efficient response to employee questions and issues
• Stay up-to-date on current trends and best practices related to HR
• Assist in the planning and execution of HR programs and processes
• Support the ongoing improvement of Human Resources systems by actively participating in process review, process improvement and process documentation discussions
• Participate on agency committees/events as appropriate
• Provide support and act as back up for other HR roles as needed
• Assist with all other duties as required
Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree in Human Resources Management, or related field of study
• Minimum 5 years’ working experience in the field of Human Resources
• Direct full-cycle recruitment and employee development experience
• CHRP/CHRL designation or working towards
• Experience working in a unionized environment preferred
• Strong understanding of Human Resources best practices and employment legislation with the ability to effectively apply them in the workplace
• Understanding of labour relations and the application of collective agreements
• Proficiency in the use of computer technology and various software applications
• Ability to manage high-volume recruitment for a broad range of positions
• Ability to identify and implement employee development initiatives
• Professional tact and diplomacy with the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Friendly, welcoming customer service mindset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Sound judgment
