The Pet Cancer Foundation’s vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer. Each year, an estimated 12 million dogs and cats are diagnosed with cancer, six times the number of humans affected annually in North America.
As our volunteer organization continues to scale rapidly, we need to attract a wide range of passionate, skilled contributors to fill essential operational, creative, and support roles. About the position
The volunteer Recruiter manages full-cycle recruitment for a broad range of roles throughout PCF. You will proactively source, screen, interview, and evaluate candidates, build pipelines of active and passive talent, and partner closely with department leaders to understand hiring needs and deliver contributors who meet role requirements and align with PCF’s mission-driven culture. This role ensures a professional, welcoming candidate experience, represents PCF with integrity, and contributes to continuous improvement of recruitment practices to support ongoing organizational growth.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Source, screen, and interview candidates for volunteer positions.
- Review applications and resumes to identify candidates who meet the role requirements.
- Conduct initial interviews to assess skills, experience, interest, and fit with the Pet Cancer Foundation.
- Work with hiring managers to understand their recruiting needs and candidate requirements.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for current and future volunteer opportunities.
- Communicate with candidates throughout the recruitment process and provide a positive candidate experience.
- Coordinate interviews and follow up with candidates and hiring managers on next steps.
- Provide hiring managers with candidate feedback and recommendations.
- Represent the Pet Cancer Foundation professionally, sharing information about our mission & volunteer opportunities.
About You
You’re a proactive, relationship-focused recruiter with a proven ability to attract and place strong talent for a wide variety of roles in a mission-driven organization. You thrive in a remote, volunteer-led environment, bring strong organizational skills, and take pride in delivering a positive experience for every candidate. You bring:
- 3+ years of full-cycle recruitment experience, with success recruiting a broad range of operational, creative, support, and mid-level roles (required).
- Expertise in active sourcing and headhunting, including building pipelines for high-volume or recurring positions.
- Exceptional communication, networking, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust quickly and represent PCF professionally.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets), and online job boards such as, Indeed, Idealist, etc.…
- Excellent time management and attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines and maintain high standards in a dynamic setting.
- Genuine passion for PCF’s mission and enthusiasm about connecting talented individuals with meaningful volunteer opportunities that advance pet cancer care.
