About Planet Watch
Planet Watch is a nonprofit, volunteer‑driven environmental education initiative dedicated to making climate literacy accessible for all ages. We create clear, hopeful learning tools, youth‑friendly programs, and a curated online library that helps communities understand climate issues and take meaningful action
Role
Identify, attract, and welcome new volunteers who can support Planet Watch’s programs, digital library, and outreach efforts. This role focuses on sourcing candidates, conducting initial conversations, and working closely with the Onboarding Coordinator to ensure new volunteers have a smooth, supportive start.
Key Responsibilities
- Post volunteer roles on relevant platforms and maintain recruitment channels
- Review applications and conduct initial screening conversations
- Identify strong matches between candidates and Planet Watch’s volunteer roles
- Make hiring recommendations to Volunteer Management Team Lead
- Coordinating with team leads to understand current and upcoming volunteer needs
- Share candidate information with the Onboarding Coordinator for next steps
- Participate in the early stages of onboarding to ensure a warm, confident transition
- Support a positive, inclusive, and mission‑aligned volunteer experience
Ideal For
A friendly, organized communicator who enjoys connecting with people, recognizing strengths, and helping volunteers find meaningful ways to contribute.
Years of Experience
• 3-4 years in recruitment, volunteer coordination, HR support, or related roles
• Experience with nonprofit, educational, or environmental initiatives is an asset
• Comfort with simple digital tools for communication and tracking preferred
Time Commitment
Minimum 4 hours per week.
Eligibility
Candidates must reside in Canada and speak English.
