Off Season Schedule: Full time hybrid role with a minimum of 2-3 days per week in Head Office (North York, Ontario) with Thursdays as Mandatory Teams Day. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
Camp Season Schedule: May to August. Required to live onsite at Camp Woodeden (London, ON). Room and board provided. May be required to travel occasionally between locations based on camp operational needs.

Position Overview
The Recreation Supervisor is responsible for the overall planning, leadership, and management of the Camp Woodeden summer camp program. Working closely with the Healthcare Director, and providing oversight to the Program and Counselling Coordinators, this role ensures a safe, inclusive, and enriching experience for all campers and staff.
The Recreation Supervisor plays a key role in staff recruitment, hiring, and training, ensuring that all training and camp operations align with Easter Seals Ontario’s policies, procedures, and values. In partnership with the Leadership Team and Manager, Recreation, the Recreation Supervisor assists in the assessment of camper applications and, in coordination with the Nursing Manager, facilitates camper approvals. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of camp, serving as a primary point of contact for campers, families, and staff throughout the season.
During the off-season, the Recreation Supervisor contributes to program development and strategic planning by identifying and implementing program improvements that enhance the quality and impact of the recreation program. The role also involves maintaining strong engagement with camper families, community partners, staff, and key stakeholders to ensure continued program growth and alignment with the broader strategic direction of Easter Seals Ontario.

Major Responsibilities:
Program Planning, Development, and Evaluation
- Work with the Counselling Coordinator, Program Coordinator, and Healthcare Director in the delivery of a safe, supportive, and camper-focused program.
- Evaluate camper applications to determine camp eligibility.
- Plan and implement programs in conjunction with the Manager, Recreation and Camp Leadership Team – pre-camp training, the open house and other special events.
- In collaboration with the Manager, Recreation review the camp program on a regular basis to ensure the program is meeting the objectives of the recreation department and those of Easter Seals Ontario.
Staff Management and Development
- Recruit, hire, train, motivate, manage, supervise and evaluate all seasonal counsellors, program staff, volunteers and members of the Leadership Team.
- Remain visible and accessible by participating as fully as possible in all camp programs.
- Work with the Human Resources team to ensure that all policies and processes are followed, and employees are compliant
- Support and provide leadership to all Camp staff including in the development and delivery of recreational plans
Operations Management
- Monitor and evaluate all programs and services through regular observation of programs, hands-on leadership, and implementation of appropriate evaluation tools.
- Investigate, manage and oversee all incidents and serious concerns.
- Implement the camp’s crisis response plan as required.
Financial Management
• Monitor the program budget for camp and make recommendations to the Recreation Manager as required.
Property and Facilities Support
- Consult and work with the Site Supervisors to ensure smooth scheduling of camp sessions and events.
- Ensure all emergency plans are in place, up-to-date and known by all site personnel including, but not limited to fire, medical emergencies, wild animals, natural disasters and other threats.
- Determining that all equipment used at camp is safe and compliant with the appropriate regulations.
Communication & Administration
- Communications, correspondence, and the provision of excellent customer service for all campers, families and various program participants in order to ensure the highest possible program delivery satisfaction and camper retention.
- Partner with community groups, service clubs, and donors.
- Work collaboratively as a supporting member of the philanthropy team, based out of the London, ON region.
- Reinforce the camp philosophy, policies and standards by acting as a role model to the staff and being an active participant in the camp community.
- Other responsibilities as required to ensure the success of the program.
Camp Supervisor - Summer Deployment (will be required to live on site from May until the end of August every year).
- Lead the Summer Camp Program during the summer camp season, offering hands-on guidance and strong leadership to all staff, campers and family members.
- Provide strategic support by acting as a key resource for troubleshooting, decision-making, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to campers and an overall positive working experience for staff.
- Foster a positive environment by cultivating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for both staff and campers, promoting teamwork, and ensuring an exceptional camp experience for everyone.
- Create and submit session reports to the Manager, Recreation.
- Review, follow-up, and appropriately file incident reports and communication forms.
- Connect with camper families to relay information about camper experiences.
- Lead meetings with the onsite Leadership Team to ensure teams have the appropriate information and resources to meet camper needs and deliver programs.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the camp community by effectively addressing the needs of campers and staff, supporting relationship building, managing conflict, and promoting self-determination.
- Lead ongoing formal and informal evaluations of staff performance, identifying both excellence and areas for improvement, while providing opportunities for growth and, when necessary, corrective or disciplinary action in accordance with Easter Seals Ontario policies.
Required Professional Designation/Certificates
Required:
- University Degree and/or College Diploma in disciplines surrounding Children and Youth, Recreation, Social Work, Community Programming, and/or Community Development or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in camp management, youth programming, or related leadership roles.
- Proven ability to lead a diverse team and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain before camp begins)
- Valid Driver's License
- Adept use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, One Drive)
Preferred:
- Previous experience working with Easter Seals Ontario camping program in a Leadership role.
- Experience with Campbrain software.
- Familiarity with Ontario Camping Association (OCA).
- Background in budget management and staff training.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, participants, parents/guardians of participants and staff.
- Strong writing skills, excellent command of the English language.
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task, strong attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work long hours and outside of regular 9-5 schedule during Camp Season.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and with flexibility, in order to respond to rapidly shifting recreation priorities.

Important Note: Vacation requests will not be approved during the peak camp operational season (May –August) when camps are in session. Vacation time must be scheduled and taken during the off-season, September through April.
Salary: $48,000 - $53,000 (commensurate with experience)
