Recreation & Sports Volunteer

Description:
Recreation & Sports volunteers lead or assist sports and active games that foster fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Volunteers help organize safe, fun sessions for youth of varying skill levels and support coaches and staff during program blocks.

Location & Schedule:

• Dates & sessions vary by sport (Oct 2025 start for many programs)
• Days: Monday–Sunday (specifics depend on program)
• Commitment: Variable shifts (program dependent)

Duties:

• Plan and run drills, small-sided games, and team challenges.
• Set up and put away equipment; monitor safe equipment use.
• Provide positive coaching, encouragement, and constructive feedback.
• Ensure all participants are included and supported.
• Communicate participant needs, injuries, or behaviour concerns to lead staff.

Education / Skills:

• University or college students, recent graduates, or senior high school students (Grades 11–12).
• Knowledge of sport rules and basic coaching practices.
• Energetic, safety-focused, and able to lead small groups.
