Recreation Program Assistant: Karaoke Assistant

Position Title: Recreation Program Assistant: Karaoke Assistant

Placement Type: In person

Location: SPLC 3333 Finch Ave East (Recreation office & Activity Room)

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: Ongoing

Placement Hours: 2 Hours/ week

Client Group: SPLC / SALC Program Participants / Seniors.

Reports To: Active Living Coordinator


Responsibilities: 

  • Arrive early to set up the activity and to welcome participants.

  • Record the attendance.

  • Ensure the safety of clients by fulfilling the responsibilities and safety procedures.

  • Monitor condition of equipment and supplies.

  • After the program, ensure the program area is cleaned up and the equipment is put away.

  • Notify participants of any program changes if necessary.

  • Report to the supervisor any issue concerned with the program.

Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills.

  • Fun-loving, outgoing personality.

  • Willingness and ability to take direction from staff.

  • Comfort with and knowledge of recreation program registration process.

  • Respect, patience and understanding of frail seniors.

Boundaries/Limitations:

  • Do not open or try to fix equipment and office machinery.

  • Do not lift a person.

Orientation/Training:

  • Orientation to the organization, its policies, and office procedures. Participate in workshops related to how to assist frail seniors and communication.

  • Position related orientation and training will be performed by direct supervisor

Supervision and Evaluation:

  • Supervision and support will be provided by the Active Living Coordinator.

  • Vulnerable Service Sector Check screening is mandatory.
