Location: 3225 Eglinton Ave E, Unit 111, Scarborough, ON M1J 2H7

Terms: Minimum commitment of 3 months

Scope

Responsible for a variety of front desk administrative duties, telephone operations, and referrals to internal programs.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones, respond to clients’ inquiries, and forward calls to the appropriate staff member
  • Perform clerical duties, including typing, photocopying, faxing, etc.
  • Assist in providing information and referrals to internal programs and services
  • Assist settlement counsellors who are working with eligible newcomers to conduct needs assessments, provide information, and make referrals to eligible newcomers
  • Assist with providing administrative support to various programs as needed

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. A second language is an asset.
  • Good understanding of Canadian social services system
  • Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with a strong customer service orientation
  • Sensitivity to the needs and challenges of newcomers
  • Sound knowledge of computers and MS Office programs
  • Available to volunteer consistently during the working hours, Monday-Friday 8:30 AM - 5 PM
  • Punctual and responsible
  • Time management and organizational skills

  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
