The Muslim Literary Festival (MLF) is seeking a creative, strategic, and detail-oriented Publicist to support media relations and external communications for the festival and related programming. This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills who is passionate about storytelling, community engagement, and amplifying diverse voices in literature and media. The Publicist will be responsible for developing and executing publicity strategies to increase awareness of MLF initiatives, drafting press releases and media materials, conducting outreach to journalists and media outlets, and coordinating interviews and press opportunities for speakers and key representatives. The role also includes preparing briefing materials for media engagements, collaborating with the marketing team to maintain consistent public messaging, and tracking media coverage and publicity outcomes. This position offers valuable hands-on experience in public relations, communications, and event promotion within a collaborative and mission-driven environment.

  • Develop and execute publicity strategies to increase awareness of MLF programs, campaigns, and the annual festival
  • Draft press releases, media advisories, and external communications for announcements, partnerships, and event promotion
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, community organizations, and relevant platforms
  • Conduct media outreach and follow-ups to secure coverage before, during, and after the festival
  • Coordinate interviews, press opportunities, and media attendance for speakers and key representatives
  • Prepare talking points, briefing notes, and support materials for media engagements
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistent messaging across all public-facing communications
  • Track and compile media coverage and provide basic reporting on publicity outcomes
