Established in 1994, Seniors First BC Society (SFBC) is a charitable, non-profit society that provides information, legal advocacy, and support to older adults across BC who are dealing with issues affecting their well-being. SFBC provides free help to older adults through 6 programs: the Seniors Abuse Information Line (SAIL), Victim Services Program, Public Education and Outreach Program (PEO), and three legal programs.
The PEO Presenter will help raise awareness on elder abuse prevention and response including neglect and self-neglect prevention, recognition and response, frauds and scams and other topics of relevance to seniors’ wellbeing.
Start Date:
As soon as possible – applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
Rate of Pay:
$28-29/h (annual base pay $40,768-42,224/year for 28h/week), depending on hours worked, skills, and experience. Competitive extended health benefit package is available after probation.
Hours:
Part-time, 28 hours per week
Work Location:
Applicants located from anywhere in BC will be considered. However, the applicant will be expected to spend a few days in our office in downtown Vancouver for training purposes.
Reports to:
Executive Director
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in community activities and events.
- Plan and develop content for educational materials.
- Schedule and coordinate sessions with community partners.
- Deliver presentations, online and in person.
- Collect feedback from audience and evaluate.
- Maintain records (number of events, number of participants, key stakeholders) to support reports to funders, the board of directors, and for new grant proposals
- Along with the Executive Director and PEO Team, revise slides/materials.
- Develop and delivers Public Education presentations in person and remotely.
Required
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills
- Public-speaking experience
- Experience building and nurturing partnerships with community agencies and government
- Experience working with marginalized groups
- Driver’s license
- Ability to present occasionally on weekends/evenings
- Willingness to travel.
