Provincial Planning Committee – Volunteer Opportunity
Ronald McDonald House Charities® Alberta (RMHC Alberta) is passionate about providing a home away from home for families with seriously ill or injured children who must travel for medical care.
We know that a family with a sick child is a sick family. A Ronald McDonald House ® provides a warm, compassionate and comfortable environment where families can share experiences, receive respite and distraction, eat a warm homemade meal and rest, all while caring for their child at the hospital next door.
RMHC Alberta is part of a global network of Houses, Family Rooms, Care Mobiles and Comfort Carts prioritizing family-centered care through delivery of our unique core programs. RMHC Alberta operates four Houses offering private family suites, and Comfort Carts that deliver bedside services in hospital.
Your Role:
We are currently looking for passionate, community-minded individuals based in Calgary to join the Provincial Planning Committee for the Taste of Home Gala. Taste of Home is one of our largest annual fundraisers, supporting families who rely on Ronald McDonald House Charities while their children receive vital medical care. This year, our Taste of Home Gala’s will be in Calgary on November 7, and in Edmonton on November 14.
The generosity and commitment of all our Volunteers profoundly impacts the families that stay at a Ronald McDonald House in Alberta every year.
Your Key Responsibilities:
As a Provincial Planning Committee member, you will be part of a dedicated team helping bring this special event to life. Key responsibilities include:
- Attending planning meetings: Approximately one hour long, the meetings are held monthly, with increased frequency as the event date(s) approach.
- Securing sponsorships: Identify and connect with potential event sponsors.
- Sourcing silent auction items: Reach out to your network for high quality donated items or experiences.
- Promoting the event: Spread the word within your community and promote the event(s).
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Organized
- Motivated
- Connected in the community
- Excited to support a meaningful cause
Diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural safety are guiding principles at RMHC Alberta. We recognize the ongoing need to ensure DEI is reflected in our day-to-day activities; to champion continuous learning for staff, volunteers and the board; to create policies and practices that support DEI; and to find ways to measure our progress and continually improve. If you require accommodation, please advise us during the recruitment process.
