Job Purpose

The Prospect Development Analyst is responsible primarily for major and middle donor prospect research and development. This includes prospect research, database management, pipeline development and management, data analysis and reporting, and gift processing.

Working with the Prospect Development Manager, this individual will help ensure that all World Vision Canada Philanthropy market-facing teams receive excellent research and data support and have strong prospect pipelines.

They will build and maintain a strong moves management system that continuously moves donors through the stages of the donor cycle while continuously conducting internal and external research to identify and allocate new individual, corporate, and foundation prospects to the Philanthropy teams’ pipelines.

While focusing on supporting the acquisition and cultivation of high net worth prospects for the major gifts team, the Prospect Development Analyst will also provide prospect research and development support for the Middle Donor team, Legacy, and Corporate and Church Engagement teams.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Philanthropy Advisor pipelines and portfolios are robust, contain strong viable prospects, and are supported by a continual flow of newly identified and effectively rated prospective donors, with a special focus on identifying and researching high net worth prospects.
  • Conduct proactive and reactive research and data analysis so that the Philanthropy team is equipped with evidence-based information to inform donor engagement strategy.
  • Together with the Prospect Development Manager, design, develop and implement policies, procedures, practices, and systems for effective prospect development and moves management for the Philanthropy team.
  • Ensure strong internal and external prospect identification systems and tools are in place and work collaboratively with our Data Analytics & Insights team for support.
  • Maintain the Prospect Development team’s research intake system and ensure research deliverables are provided in a timely manner to fundraising teams to support fundraising & engagement strategies
  • Provide support for the processing, tracking, and communication for certain donations including those through Donor Advised Funds and ensure timely reporting and acknowledgement of gifts are completed.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as fundraising, analytics or information systems. A Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) is preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in a fundraising environment with a heavy focus on prospect research, prospect development, database management, information systems/services and fundraising operations.
  • Experience with prospect research and prospect development practices, processes and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with prospect research tools and prospect rating systems such as Microsoft CRM system, iWave, Grant Connect, Target Analytics, and other donor management systems. Excellent technology and computer skills are essential.
  • Strong communication, relational, and teamwork skills with ability to contribute to a dynamic team in a service-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others both within the team and across the organization.
  • Ability to be adaptive, manage and prioritize competing priorities, and work in a complex and ever-changing environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise considerable judgment, tact, and discretion while working with sensitive and confidential information
