SALARY: $ 56,323.00- $61,549.00 per annum based on experience.

About the role: The Project ReSet program works with individuals (& families) who are at risk of promoting, supporting, or committing violence or high-risk behaviour related to an ideology targeting identifiable persons, groups, or institutions. The T4C program works with individuals engaged in or involved with streetlevel violence.

This role has two main functions. The Knowledge Mobilization aspect relates to researching, developing, and facilitating education sessions, trainings, or groups, as needed, to a wide range of community partners, agencies, professionals, institutions, and clients. As a caseworker in the Project ReSet & T4C programs, you will provide responsive, individualized case management and wraparound support and services in the community and/or institutions. Services are person-centered, and so, the needs, strengths, and goals of the client guide the intervention plan. The goal is to enhance protective factors, reduce risk and vulnerability factors, and improve community connection. Travel throughout Eastern Ontario is required regularly.

Understanding and working with individuals who face multiple barriers, both at a systemic and individual level (mental health, justice involvement, substance use, history of trauma).

Building rapport and engage with participants and their families to develop and design strategic interventions for those who are involved in or at risk of targeted violence.

Researching, developing and facilitating education sessions, training, and groups, with professionals and participants.

Speaking in public, engaging with the community, families, law enforcement partners, and other professionals.

Taking initiative, adapting to ever-changing demands and priorities, working under tight timelines, being extremely organized, and having strong communication skills to support the overall position.

You'll stand out if you have...

Thorough understanding and experience applying Cognitive Behavioural, Social Learning, and Social Ecological approaches, as well as Motivational Interviewing.

Understanding of trauma and its implications for those individuals intended by this project.

An understanding of the process of radicalization and factors that may lead someone to become radicalized,

An understanding of the process or factors leading to involvement in street-level violence

Strong understanding of applying culturally responsive strategies to case management.

Experience and commitment to working with marginalized populations in a dignified and respectful manner.

As the right candidate, you will bring positive energy, dedication, reliability, and discipline to your central responsibilities, which include:

Providing intensive case management in the community, at institutions, or the office, including both direct counseling / support and bridging to other services.

Developing and providing training to our many partners, families, professionals, and individuals involved in the program.

Travel throughout Eastern Ontario to support the goals of the projects. You have a unique history. Does it include the education and experience listed below?

A post-secondary degree or diploma in the field of social sciences or relevant lived experience.

Minimum two years of experience providing direct intervention to at-risk/justice-involved transition-aged youth and/or adults and their families.

Experience and ability to work with various aspects of the youth and adult justice systems, including diversion, detention, custody, probation, and parole, as well as police services.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL have:

An updated clear Criminal Record Check working with a vulnerable population.

Obtain clearance with the Correctional Service of Canada for federal institution meetings, and with provincial institutions (Ottawa Carleton Detention Centre), Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and/or the Ottawa Police Service.

Be supported by the JHS Clinical Director and Program Coordinator.

Have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for working with clients in the community.

Be willing to work at multiple site locations (Carling and Kanata office sites, community work).

LANGUAGES: Advanced competencies (written and oral) in English and French or Arabic.
