Role Overview
We are seeking a Project Manager to oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Samawada’s water and humanitarian projects. This role is central to ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with donor requirements and Canadian charitable guidelines.
The Project Manager works closely with local partners, internal teams, and leadership to ensure strong coordination, accountability, and impact tracking across all projects.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and manage humanitarian and water projects from initiation to completion
Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and work breakdown structures
Coordinate with local implementing partners and field teams
Monitor project progress, milestones, risks, and deliverables
Ensure projects align with donor agreements and CRA compliance requirements
Track project expenditures in coordination with Finance
Maintain project documentation, reports, and evidence for audits
Support impact measurement, monitoring, and evaluation (M&E)
Prepare project updates and reports for donors, leadership, and the Board
Identify risks and issues and implement mitigation strategies
Ensure community engagement and ethical project implementation
Support continuous improvement of project management processes
What We Are Looking For
Experience in project management, preferably in humanitarian or development settings
Strong organizational and planning skills
Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders and partners
Ability to manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
Interest in water, humanitarian, or international development work
Formal project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) is an asset but not required.
Nice to Have
Experience working with NGOs, charities, or international organizations
Familiarity with donor-funded projects and reporting
Experience managing projects in East Africa or similar contexts
Basic understanding of monitoring & evaluation (M&E)
Experience using project management tools (e.g., Monday.com, Asana, Trello)
