Role Purpose The Project Manager will help keep the Climate Stories Map (https://climatestories.palce, https://crc.place/climate-stories-map/) launch on track by coordinating our small volunteer team, monitoring timelines, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. This role is essential for translating our ambitious vision into an organized, achievable launch plan. You will be the connective tissue that keeps our distributed team aligned, productive, and focused on the most important priorities as we bring this climate storytelling platform to communities Canada wide.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate project execution and team alignment for the Climate Stories Map launch:
• Launch Plan Ownership: Own and maintain the shared launch plan, updating task status, timelines, and dependencies to keep everyone informed
• Team Coordination: Run short, efficient check-ins (biweekly meetings + async updates on Slack) to keep the volunteer team aligned and moving forward
• Prioritization: Help the team prioritize what happens first—balancing social media posts, email campaigns, outreach efforts, platform features, and partner engagement
https://climatestories.palce https://crc.place/climate-stories-map/• Metrics Tracking: Maintain a simple overview of key metrics, including number of stories submitted, organizations contacted, user feedback received, and platform engagement
• Risk Management: Flag risks, blockers, or delays early and suggest practical fixes or trade-offs to keep the project on track
Additional responsibilities include:
• Create and maintain accessible project documentation that helps volunteers stay oriented
• Support asynchronous communication and ensure remote volunteers have what they need
• Facilitate decision-making when priorities conflict or resources are constrained
• Celebrate milestones and wins with the team to maintain momentum and morale
• Identify process improvements and suggest efficiencies for volunteer coordination
• Support onboarding of new volunteers as the team grows
• Keep stakeholders informed of progress and key decisions
Required Qualifications
• Comfortable organizing projects with multiple moving pieces and competing priorities
• Strong communicator who can nudge people kindly but clearly and keep teams
accountable
• Able to use basic online collaboration tools (Google Docs/Sheets, Slack, or similar)
• Reliable with time commitments and responsive to team needs
• Proactive problem-solver who can anticipate issues before they become blockers
• Comfortable working with volunteers and understanding the unique dynamics of
volunteer coordination
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
• Experience managing small teams or projects in work, school, or volunteer contexts
• Familiarity with community organizing, climate work, or digital campaigns
• Enjoys light data tracking, simple reporting, and creating visual progress updates
• Experience with project management tools (Asana, Trello, Monday, Notion, or similar)
• Background in nonprofit or social impact project management
• Understanding of agile or lean project management methodologies
• Passion for climate action, storytelling, and community empowerment
Key Deliverables & Success Metrics
• Maintained launch plan with up-to-date task status, timelines, and team assignments
• Consistent biweekly team meetings with clear agendas, notes, and action items
• Simple metrics dashboard tracking stories submitted, partnerships initiated, and user
engagement
• Proactive identification and resolution of at least 80% of blockers before they cause
delays
• Successful coordination of Climate Stories Map launch within planned timeline
• High volunteer satisfaction with project coordination and communication
