Project Manager
Help Us Change the Narrative
At Supporting Survivors of Abuse and Brain Injury Through Research (SOAR), www.soarproject.ca, we’re more than colleagues—we’re people with purpose, coming together to change the narrative around intimate partner violence-caused brain injury (IPV-BI)
We are a registered charity and the only organization in Canada dedicated to the intersection of intimate partner violence and brain injury. Our culture is grounded in kindness, flexibility, and a shared belief in the importance of our mission to Explore, Educate, and Empower.
The Role
We seek a strategic and experienced leader to help us build capacity among survivors of IPV-BI and among the frontline professionals who work to support them as part of a one-year, national project. There are two concurrent streams to manage. One stream is to create a network of national-serving, virtual peer support groups for survivors. The second stream involves recruiting, onboarding and equipping cohorts of trainers from a variety of disciplines and regions to provide training on recognizing and responding to intimate partner violence related brain injury on SOAR’s behalf.
Reporting to the project lead and working closely with the project coordinator, you will hold the big picture firmly in place while ensuring the multi-faceted project’s goals, objectives and outputs are met with excellence and in alignment with our mission and funding requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Oversight: Maintain rigorous control over the project's entire scope, budget, and deliverables.
- Strategic Mapping: Design and manage detailed project timelines, mapping the critical path for all work outputs.
- Risk & Resource Management: Proactively identify potential barriers and implement mitigation strategies, relying on professional project management tools and methodologies to keep the team on track.
- Partner Bridge: Act as the central point of communication for our national network of partners, ensuring clear expectations on delivery and timely contributions across various time zones.
- Fiscal Responsibility: Working collaboratively with the project lead and director of operations, monitor project spending against budget, ensuring all activities are cost-effective and align with our projected expenditures and funding requirements.
Candidate Requirements
- Project Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects, preferably using structured PM methodologies.
- Trauma-Informed Lens: A deep understanding of, or a willingness to be trained in, trauma-informed practice and GBA+ (Gender-Based Analysis Plus).
- Communication Mastery: engaging and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Remote Mastery: Proficiency (or willingness to become proficient) in our core tools, including Trello for task tracking, Slack for daily communication, and Google Drive for paperless document management.
- Bilingualism: Fluency in French is an asset.
- Experience: A professional background in the gender-based violence (GBV), brain injury, or healthcare sectors. Experience working in non-profits is an asset.
