POSITION SUMMARY
TFTF ‘s overall purpose is to provide a culturally affirming, community based wrap around services that will facilitate the supporting and enhancing of the positive experiences of children and youth in the education system while providing a wrap around system of protective and positive support in areas such as health and mental health, self-identity and self esteem, building strong parental and familial environment while at the same time engaging the various systems, structures and institutions to help them recognize the impact of anti-Black racism on Black and racialized communities and build their capacity to change and/or transform their approach and service delivery.
This position ensures the effective implementation of the TFTF project’s objectives and activities according to the funding agreement executed with the Public Safety Canada.
The Project Lead will ensure the alignment of TFTF with TAIBU’s model of Black Health & Wellbeing that identifies Prevention, Restoration and Advancement as our primary goals in addressing the impact of anti-Black racism and foundational pillars of using an anti-Black racism, Afrocentric and Systems Transformation approach when developing and implementing programs and services including the implementation of TAIBU’s Africentric Evaluation Framework.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that TAIBU’s mission, vision and values are incorporated within the development
and implementation of the TFTF project, objectives and activities.
Promote a holistic and client centered care and practice with a strong emphasis on Anti-
Black Racism and Afrocentric approach
- Implement activities in connection with strategic plan in collaboration with program
- Provide leadership, by developing and implementing TFTF within TAIBU’s Model of Black Health and Wellbeing.
- Recommend area for policy development in the above program activities and assist staff and the Director Community Services in the development of policy and protocols.
- Ensure that all community programs funding reports are prepared and submitted in a timely manner to funding agencies and other relevant committees as required
- Ensure the Community Programs team is functioning effectively and efficiently
- Support the hiring of the TFTF Project staff
- Ensure that TFTF project staff are familiar with TAIBU CHC operating policies and procedures
- Facilitate resolution of problems, issues and concerns within staff
- Develop and implement individualized plans for professional growth and development including participation in professional organizations and activities, workshops, seminars and other staff development programs
- Support the Director Community Services to keep up to date on current legislation and funding sources.
- Work closely with the Manager Community Programs and Manager of Francophone Programs to align TFTF with the various programs and activities and build a relationship between team members.
- Assist in the meeting of the standards for accreditation
Administrative Duties
- Participate in team / staff meetings and on interdisciplinary teams; participate in Centre and Board committees, other work groups, projects, and chair and or take minutes at such meetings as may be required
- Maintain database information in a timely manner using various defined tools
- Keep general program and participant information and records and maintain accurate program and outreach statistics, records and reports; ensure timely data collection and recording of all encounters, either electronically or manually in a timely manner
- Develop and maintain a flexible work schedule that accommodates the needs of the community and the Centre
- Carry out other duties as may be assigned from time to time
All TAIBU CHC employees have some fundamental responsibilities that go beyond the confines of their occupations. These include:
- Maintaining up-to-date professional skills and knowledge through formal and informal training
- Participating in ongoing Health and Safety activities.
- Acting as an “Ambassador” for TAIBU CHC within and outside the Centre, creating an awareness of TAIBU programs and promoting services offered
- Compliance with all mandated legal/regulatory requirements related to working at TAIBU CHC e.g. Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety, standards of professional conduct, etc.
- Maintaining awareness of, and compliance with, TAIBU CHC policies and procedures
- Maintaining awareness of, and compliance with, funder requirements, policies and procedures, regulations
- Attending team and staff meetings as required as well as actively participate in required Youth Outreach Program team meetings
Experience & Education
- A post-graduate degree in Health Sciences, Health Administration or a combination of relevant education and work experience or a combination of undergraduate degree with extensive and progressive management experience;
- A minimum 3-5 years of experience in community programs delivery
- Knowledge and proficiency in program planning, implementation and evaluation strategies;
- Demonstrated commitment to and lived experience of Anti-Black Racism and Afrocentric values and principles;
- Demonstrated experience in successful proposal submissions and reporting
- Demonstrated knowledge of asset-based community development and community-based health care delivery/approach;
- Knowledge of the Social Determinants of Health and experience of working in anti racist/ anti oppression context
- Ability to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary team;
- Experience supervising staff, volunteers and students;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills;
- TAIBU IS BUILDING ITS BILINGUAL (FRENCH/ENGLISH) CAPACITY AND EXCELLENT FRENCH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY IS A SIGNIFICANT ASSET
Accountability
- This position reports to the Director Community Services
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of TAIBU CHC
Compensation:
- $68,475 - $82,500 + Competitive benefits
- New recruits at TAIBU CHC will be enrolled in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
