Project Development Team
Volunteers for Biosphere Eco-Cities Canada Project Development Team
(five positions)
You can join a team developing proposals for sustainability projects in five Canadian cities.
The Organization
Biosphere Eco-Cities Canada (BECC) is a national charity coordinating and supporting the development of Biosphere Eco-City (BEC) initiatives in Ottawa, Toronto, Brampton, Edmonton, and Vancouver. A BEC initiative engages people and organizations in activities that integrate the needs of people and nature to create a culture of sustainability. It helps them to develop, implement and share their own ideas on how to address issues of sustainability. This brings sustainability into personal lives, communities and workplaces. The growing culture of sustainability in a city will inspire action for sustainability among all stakeholders – government, business, educational organizations, cultural groups etc. Ultimately, these actions will work towards resolution of global problems in areas such as climate, biodiversity loss, pollution, resource depletion and world food security, and support the resilience of the Biosphere (the Sphere of Life).
The Task and Team
While BECs do carry out their own projects, BECC develops national projects that involve several or all of the BECs in a coordinated fashion. The BECC Project Development team would create national project proposals and present them to the BECC board for review and approval. The team would liaise with the BECC Fundraising Team on resources and may provide ongoing advice during project implementation and evaluation.
Key responsibilities
• Create or receive project outlines and turn them into project proposals
• Add supporting documents, such as project charters, as needed
• Liaise with the BECC fundraising team to line up potential project resources
• Refer proposals to the BECC board for authority to proceed with procurement of
resources and implementation of projects.
A time commitment of 3-4 hours per week is requested. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please send your resume or questions to yann@BioEcoCity.org. We can arrange an online interview at a time convenient to you.
