Job Posting – Program Officer, Charitable Partnerships (0.8 FTE)

The Opportunity

The Program Officer, Charitable Partnerships is the staff person responsible for all aspects of NSCR’s fundraising programs providing leadership in fundraising strategy and execution of fundraising plans. Working with the Executive Director, NSCR’s communications and marketing staff and volunteers, the Program Officer, Charitable Partnerships is responsible for all types of fundraising activities and audiences as well as fundraising related events as well as grants from foundation. The Program Officer works with a wide variety of NSCR community partners in the corporate, government and civil society sectors. This is a four (4) day/week position. The ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues, donors and sponsors will be key to success for the Program Officer, Charitable Partnerships.

What You Will Do

The Lead, Charitable Partnerships is responsible for the following deliverables.

1. Fundraising Planning & Development

Updates and executes fundraising strategy consistent with NSCR’s Strategic Plan


• Plans, develops, implements and evaluates strategies and tactics for corporate, foundation, institutional and individual donors


• Provides support and supervision as appropriate to staff and volunteers who assist with fundraising efforts including recruitment and training


• In consultation with the Executive Director, creates and executes a fundraising budget


• Regularly reports on fundraising activities to the Executive Director and Board of Directors


• Cultivates a culture of philanthropy within the NSCR organization at every level from the Board of Directors to staff and volunteers

2. Donor & Sponsor Management and Stewardship


• Identifies, cultivates and stewards relationships with new and existing donors including developing, implementing and evaluating a case for support for

individual donors, major donors, foundations, corporate sponsors and legacy giving


• Develops, implements and evaluates an appropriate individual donor program including an appropriate donor stewardship process, charitable receipting process and a process for soliciting legacy donations


• Maintains appropriate donor software and stewardship of donor personal information including managing appropriate donor information records, stewardship and recognition processes consistent with NSCR’s Privacy Policy


• Develops, implements and evaluates strategies to enlist the support and assistance of all NSCR staff and volunteers (including the Board of Directors) in fundraising activities to create a culture of philanthropy within NSCR

3. Events and Grants


• Plans, develops, executes and evaluates fundraising events including NSCR’s 50th Anniversary celebrations


• Supports other NSCR events that might contribute to fundraising such a volunteer appreciation events.


• Identifies and applies for potential grants and foundational support for NSCR programs and services when appropriate


• Supports NSCR managers and other staff with grant applications


• Other fundraising tasks as assigned Who You Are

◦Demonstrated and diverse fundraising skills and experience (~5-8 years)

◦Experience with different types of fundraising focused on individual and major donors, foundations, corporate sponsors, etc.

◦Good understanding of different fundraising activities (online, direct mail, fundraising campaigns)

◦Exceptional relationship building skills as well as a self-starter who enjoys innovating for success

◦Excellent administrative, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

◦Demonstrated financial management skills

◦Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, etc.), Adobe, CanadaHelps (our donor CRM software) and other computer software

◦Ability to work independently, part of a team and seek, take and give direction as appropriate

◦Capacity to travel and work outside of regular office hours (9 am to 4:30 pm M – F)

◦Relevant post-secondary education; valid BC Driver’s License with access to a vehicle

◦Membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals, CFRE designation and a second language are assets

◦Suitable Candidates Subject to Criminal Record Check

What We Offer

The wage range for this position is $35-40/hour with a 4 day (28 hour) work week. We offer a good benefits package including extending health and dental benefits.
