The Ontario Student Nutrition Program supports children and youth by providing access to nutritious food at school. Peterborough Child & Family Centres is the lead agency managing student nutrition programs (SNPs) across Central East Ontario, including Durham and York Regions, the City of Kawartha Lakes, and Haliburton, Northumberland, Peterborough and Simcoe Counties. Funded by the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada through the National School Food Program, SNPs help ensure students start their day well-nourished, ready to learn, and able to participate fully at school

We are accepting applications for a currently open Program Manager, Ontario Student Nutrition Program (Permanent) position in our organization.

Position Responsibilities

The Program Manager, Student Nutrition provides leadership for student nutrition programs, services and initiatives in Central East Ontario including:

  • Managing a group of regional staff who directly support schools in delivering programs
  • Supporting Local Planning Partnerships to enhance program capacity by recruiting and retaining volunteers and improving local fundraising strategies
  • Enhancing and maintaining effective communication with school boards
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with funder expectations and deliverables
  • As a member of the PCFC Leadership Team, actively participates in all program development, evaluation, reporting, and financial management

Work Environment

  • Work location is Peterborough, Ontario with frequent travel throughout Central East Region
  • PCFC office hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm
  • Occasional weekend and evening work required.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a Human Service Discipline 
  • Minimum of 5 years working in student nutrition programs, nutrition education, health promotion or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with program and staff supervision, and budget management
  • Member in good standing with Ontario Regulatory College if applicable

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of community development principles, and nutrition-focused public health initiatives
  • Comprehensive theory-based knowledge of publicly funded student nutrition programs in Ontario
  • Comprehensive understanding of food safety principles
  • Advanced Knowledge and understanding of management theory and practice

PCFC requires all staff to submit the following prior to or on the first day of employment:

  • Current Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Current Criminal Reference Check including Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Documentation of compliance with PCFC’s Immunization Policy
