Contract - Full Time

HCCI is looking for an experienced and engaged Program Manager to develop and deliver community-based programming in Youth Mentorship, Civic Leadership, and community outreach. This position is ideal for someone looking to expand their experience in non-profits and develop skills within a leadership role. 

Term: 15-month contract (est. October 2025 to end of December 2026). This position is dependent on the continuation of funding and covers a staff leave, with the possibility of renewal or extension. 

Annual Salary: $60,000/year 

Full time. 30 hours/week (4-day work week) with 3 weeks paid vacation and paid personal days. Extended health and dental benefits. 2-week paid winter shutdown in December.

Regular work hours are during weekdays, some evenings and weekends required. Required to be in the office at least 2 days per week with flexibility for remote work for remaining days.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach, promotion, and coordinate monthly events in support of Black and racialized youth in Hamilton as part of the Black Youth Mentorship Program 
  • Be the primary point of contact for external partnerships and collaborations related to Black Youth Mentorship Program and coordinate partnership activities or events in collaboration with the Black Youth Mentorship Program Coordinator. 
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Civic Leadership Program for Summer 2026. Design and implement new Civic Leadership activities throughout the year. 
  • Develop and lead community workshops and partnerships on issue areas related to HCCI’s mission and priorities in collaboration with the Executive Director. 
  • Along with other staff, attend community events and tabling outreach on behalf of HCCI. 
  • Monitor incoming phone calls and emails to the general email account and direct inquiries appropriately. 
  • Monitor and manage social media posting and presence in collaboration with the Executive Director. Maintain a social media calendar, create graphics and posts as needed, including for fundraising campaigns, and support an active presence for HCCI online. 
  • Manage HCCI’s monthly e-newsletter including writing content with input from other staff and collaborating on developing features. 
  • Work with contracted marketing team to maintain updates to website and design of promotional materials. 
  • Coordinate with staff to take advantage of professional development opportunities and ensure completion of onboarding and training requirements. 
  • Collect and record statistics and evaluations for programs, workshops, and engagement and assist with completing grant and funder reports. 
  • Some other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years experience working in program delivery in the non-profit or relevant sector or other relevant experience. 
  • Understanding of issues of anti-Black racism and other forms of racism, and demonstrated commitment to working with marginalized communities and promoting inclusion, with an emphasis on lived experience and connection. 
  • Strong understanding of anti-racism/anti-oppressive practice. 
  • Strong skills in facilitation, outreach, and working with people from diverse backgrounds. Understanding and care for meeting people where they are, and advancing popular education. 
  • Some understanding, either through experience or area of study, of political systems, social organizing, or social justice more generally. 
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong computer, internet, and social media skills. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both written and verbal. 

Assets

  • Experience writing or reporting on grants, budgeting, or other related nonprofit work experience. 
  • Knowledge of Black and racialized communities and resources specifically in Hamilton; knowledge of organizations, services, or community history in Hamilton.  
  • Understanding of trauma-informed approaches to community work. 
  • Ability to speak/work in a language other than English. 
  • Experience working with Microsoft Sharepoint, Canva, Adobe, or other file sharing and creative platforms.
