Internship Duration & Hours: 13 weeks, 4-10 hrs per week Monday to Friday, with flexibility. January to May 2026
Salary: $20/hr
Ideal Candidate
This internship role is open to eligible Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) youth candidates (aged 18-30), with a focus on youth who have completed high school and are either in, or will soon be enrolled in post-secondary studies. We encourage emerging professionals (18 to 30yrs) to apply.
The internship is ideal for individuals who are:
- Passionate about Indigenous youth education, employment and empowerment
- Interested in exploring professional sector careers in technology, law/justice, entrepreneurship & finance, climate leadership and have experience coordinating tasks to complete a project and all related deliverables
- Have experience working with spreadsheets, presentations, professional email communication, coordination of administrative tasks, participating in a team environment in a remote and in-person working environment
- Organized, self-motivated, and culturally respectful in all work
- Committed to working in a trauma-informed, inclusive environment
- Experience working with Indigenous youth in community-based or educational settings is an asset, but not required

Intern Tasks and Duties:
The intern will support the Program’s management team, in collaboration with the corporate sponsor, in the delivery of the Indigenous Professional Studies Certificate Program over a 13 week internship period. The Program participants are Indigenous youth from across Canada, and will participate in a series of weekly, focused professional studies sessions, including mentorship sessions and a week-long intensive career development week (Discovery Week) March 7-13. The intern will support the presentation of the weekly sessions, support delivery of Discovery Week, coordinate the connection of mentors and mentees, and support the documentation of program content (presentations, schedules, post-session survey recording etc.). The intern will require a satisfactory criminal background check, conducted at the expense of OLI. Participation in Discovery Week is mandatory and will be a minimum of a 40 hour work week, possibly with overtime.
Mentor/mentee recruitment:
- Assist in promoting the marketing of the program by posting across multiple platforms and providing materials to various outlets, student recruitment centres
- Communication with program participants and mentors, OLI management and corporate sponsors as needed
- Support participant and mentor orientation to the program
Program content development
- Communicating with career guest speakers / presenters
- Gathering weekly presentation content and supporting the development of presentations for the weekly virtual sessions
- Ensuring guest presenters are prepared and ready to present (invites sent, presentation outlines provided)
Administrative, data tracking and communications support
- Participant attendance tracking at weekly virtual sessions
- Tracking of participant assignment submissions on Google Classroom
- Support the preparation of communications to all participants as needed
- Support for Virtual Sessions and Orientations
- Participate in and support weekly virtual sessions of 1.5 hrs (Tuesday evenings, using Google Meets)
- Support for and participate in sessions with Mentors (virtual) and support preparation of related materials
Admin & Operations Support with Discovery Week March 7th to March 13th, 2026
- Assist with planning and implementation of student airport arrivals and departures
- Assist with planning of and participation in the Welcome Session on Sunday March 8th for participants arriving in Toronto
- Welcome gag assembly and distribution
- Support during OLI Annual Showcase
- Intern may be eligible to gain additional work experience supporting Program participants attending the OLI Annual Showcase in May (3-4 days of full time work).
