Ophea is looking for a permanent (full-time) Professional Learning and Development Leader.

The Professional Learning and Development Leaderis responsible for planning and executing professional learning opportunities to effectively train and develop Ophea’s audiences, specifically educators across Ontario.

Collaborating closely with internal project teams and external interest holders, this role ensures that all Ophea’s professional learning offerings are informative, engaging, accessible and aligned with Ophea’s organizational strategy. The Professional Learning and Development Leader oversees all virtual and in-person training opportunities to maximize our impact and reach.

A typical workday in this position might include:

  • Updating your organizational training calendar.
  • Reviewing your assigned budget lines to ensure your spending aligns with our organizational strategy and deliverables.
  • Reviewing and addressing recommendations provided by external safety consultants on proposed updates to an educator e-Learning module on concussions.
  • Preparing an agreement with an external consultant to develop a series of short videos on best practices for creating an inclusive Health and Physical Education program, shared through our Ophea YouTube channel.
  • Meeting with Ophea Ambassadors (i.e., educators) and subject matter experts to plan an upcoming virtual panel you’re facilitating on Zoom about best practices for creating an inclusive Health and Physical Education program for students with physical disabilities.

Knowledge (formal education or general knowledge):

  • Formal education in training and development, adult learning, instructional design or a relevant field, and progressive work experience related to professional learning across a variety of platforms. An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.


Skills & Experience:

  • Experience leading professional learning projects including in-person, virtual and self-directed.
  • Experience in developing and executing professional learning and training strategies, including managing multiple budgets and aligning with organizational goals.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to represent the organization in professional settings (e.g., facilitating panels, meeting with project funders).
  • Proficiency with digital training tools (e.g., Zoom Webinar, e-Learning platforms, YouTube).
  • Bilingualism is an asset (fluency in French and English, written and spoken – advanced level).
  • Work experience in the not-for-profit/charitable sector is an asset.

Required degree level

  • Experienced (Non Manager)

Salary range

  • $59,820 per year
