The ROLE

Reporting to the Manager of Community and Youth Development, this position will include the planning and delivery of targeted prevention groups and services with a focus on supporting BIPOC children/youth and families in accessing these programs.

This position will also include opportunities to provide programming across the Halton region as part of the prevention services team and work collaboratively with the BIPOC community in breaking down barriers to accessing mental health support and exploring topics around racial identity, racial discrimination and empowering/celebrating BIPOC identities.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Degree or Diploma in Child and Youth Care or equivalent
  • Lived experience in the BIPOC community.
  • A minimum 1 year of experience working in a community-based environment. Preferably, providing groups/workshops/education to children, youth and/or families
  • Demonstrated experience in targeted prevention implementation and development
  • Familiarity with client-data management, screening and evaluation tools
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid CPR/First Aid Certificate and UMAB Certification
  • A current Criminal Reference Check with vulnerable sector search
  • An ability to work flexible hours according to program need (this may include evenings or weekend work)
  • Proficient in the use of technology and working from a virtual environment as required of the position. MAC OS operating systems experience preferred.
