Unpaid Volunteer Position
The President serves as both the CEO of the organization and the Chair of the Board of Directors. They are responsible for mobilizing the Board and volunteers to achieve the goals and objectives of Twice Upon a Time. The President also acts as the organization’s primary spokesperson.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Leadership and Governance
- Chair monthly meetings of the Board of Directors to provide leadership and oversight of the organization;
- Participate in strategic planning sessions to establish goals and action plans to help Twice Upon a Time deliver on its mission;
- Identify potential community partnerships and actively contribute to Board discussions to evaluate and determine which opportunities to pursue.
- Participate in succession planning and the recruitment of new volunteer committee leads and Board members;
Financial Oversight
- Review annual budget and monthly financial statements;
- Review draft grant applications and fundraising initiatives; and
- Approve organizational expenditures and service contracts.
Public Relations and Networking
- Act as spokesperson for the organization, including preparing speeches and interview notes as needed;
- Build and maintain partnerships with community and event partners;
- Sign partnership agreements with other organizations;
- In collaboration with other volunteers:
- Organize the Annual General Meeting;
- Prepare the Annual Report; and
- Prepare various communications pieces as needed.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Twice Upon a Time, its mission and governance structures
- Previous Board of Directors experience
- Experience establishing relationships, and partnerships with other organizations.
- Experience with project management, strategic planning, program evaluation or similar
- Strong communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills in English; French an asset
- General accounting skills an asset
- Experience in non-profit organization management or a leadership role is an asset.
Estimated time commitment: 10-15 hours per month

- Monitor emails, respond to inquiries

- In collaboration with Communications Lead, prepare blog posts and various other communications
- Monthly (on average)
- Review committee reports in preparation for Board meetings, including financial reports for the organization
- Chair monthly Board meetings
- Review draft grant applications and fundraising initiatives
- Meet with all potential new partners brought forward by the Board for consideration
- Annually
- Participate in the annual budgeting process
- Support the planning and preparation of the Annual General Meeting and the Annual Report.
- Review and sign partnership agreements
- Support the planning of strategic planning sessions; participate in the sessions
Work location: Mostly remote, with in-person meetings at least monthly.
