The Portfolio Optimization Analyst plays a strategic role in enhancing the effectiveness of University Advancement’s fundraising efforts. The position ensures that major gift officer and development officer portfolios are optimized for equity, efficiency, and alignment with institutional priorities. Through advanced data analysis and strategic insight, the Analyst supports leadership decision-making and contributes to a sustainable, high-performing prospect pipeline.

Objectives:

  • Optimize fundraising portfolios to align with campaign goals and donor engagement strategies.
  • Provide advanced data analysis and predictive modeling to inform strategic decisions.
  • Establish and maintain performance benchmarks and portfolio standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in portfolio strategy and best practices.
  • Support a data-informed culture through training, coaching, and actionable insights.
  • Ensure portfolios are campaign-ready and support long-term fundraising success.

Job Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, business, nonprofit management, or a related field, plus a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in advancement services, prospect management, fundraising analytics, or a related discipline. An understanding of Major Gifts fundraising is required. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex data and present findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in fundraising CRMs (e.g., Raiser’s Edge NXT, Ellucian, Salesforce) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience writing briefing notes and reports for senior executives.
  • Ability to identify and analyze issues, develop solutions, and implement effective strategies to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to strategic planning initiatives.
