Position Type: Contract, Full Time

Duration: ASAP until April 30, 2027 with possibility of extension

Salary: $60,000

About the Role:

As a Political Organizer, you will be a member of a small, dedicated Green Party team working towards the next provincial election, whenever it may be. This is a contract position covering a family leave until the end of April 2027 with the possibility of extension.

Your primary role will be to support our mobilizing team and local Constituency Associations (CAs) to build organizing capacity and electoral readiness, abide by Elections Ontario reporting requirements, recruit candidates and support their nomination and registration process ahead of the next general provincial election. Travel within Ontario is required. Hours of work are generally business hours but may include evenings & weekends.

Duties & Responsibilities:

As an organizer, you will…

  • Support Constituency Associations (CAs) with building local capacity, candidate recruitment and the candidate nomination process
  • Provide general support and direction for CAs and candidates in a timely manner
  • Organize and provide election training to CAs and provincial volunteers
  • Ensure candidates & CAs are registered with Elections Ontario and have met all paperwork and annual report filing deadlines and regulations.
  • Maintain current contact information in the party’s CRM and voter software databases
  • Track data regarding candidate searches, CAs and campaigns
  • Work with existing CAs to ensure compliance with all Elections Ontario requirements & GPO constitutional guidelines
  • Assist GPO with Elections Ontario Party reporting requirements as needed
  • Provide support at nomination meetings and tour events as needed
  • Organize logistics and mobilize volunteers for leadership and attendance at events, rallies, demonstrations etc.
  • Join weekly staff check-ins
  • Other duties & assignments as required

Qualifications:

Must-haves:

  • Experience organizing and mobilizing volunteers
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfort with social interaction with members, volunteers and voters
  • Passion & commitment to social and environmental change in Ontario
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate persuasively, and write in a clear & concise manner
  • Proficiency with various online technologies such as Google Suite, Slack, CRM/Voter software databases, etc.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects at one time under pressure
  • Flexibility -- we are a small organization and staff members take on various roles outside of our typical job descriptions - we operate as “all hands on deck”
  • Adaptable to a changing schedule, and ability to think on your feet
  • General understanding of the political system in Ontario, or a willingness to learn

Nice-to-haves:

  • Bilingualism (especially French)
  • Experience:
    • on a political campaign
    • providing trainings
    • navigating complex reporting requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive within Ontario
