PURPOSE:

The Planned Giving Manager role develops and nurtures relationships with legacy giving society members, known to World Renew as Joseph Stewards, to strengthen engagement and increase planned giving support. The role will also build and manage a pipeline of prospects by identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting donors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Donor Cultivation & Relationship Management

  • Implement targeted cultivation strategies to maintain and increase legacy and planned gifts, ensuring personalized engagement for all donor levels.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with an assigned portfolio of donors, ensuring consistent communication and engagement through a donor stewardship strategy.
  • Foster connections with legacy giving society members in the United States through personalized outreach and engagement activities.
  • Segment donors based on interests and communication preferences; provide tailored reports, newsletters, and ministry updates.

Legacy & Planned Giving Development

  • Research, identify, and qualify donors for legacy and planned gift opportunities.
  • Promote the Joseph Stewards program through targeted campaigns, newsletters, donor stories, events, and webinars to celebrate Joseph Stewards and encourage new commitments.
  • Develop educational content (brochures, web pages, FAQs) that explains the benefits of legacy giving in simple, inspiring language.

Estate & Professional Partner Coordination

  • Collaborate with estate planning professionals like Barnabas (US) and Christian Stewardship Services (CAN) to promote and facilitate planned giving opportunities and support legal and financial aspects of planned gifts.
  • Work with family members, attorneys, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth processing of estate gifts.

Strategic Planning, Reporting & Administration

  • Establish financial goals and strategic plans in consultation with the team and supervisor.
  • Accurately record relevant donor information in the CRM system.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. An actively practicing Christian with participation in a local Christian community and a strong commitment to Christ and recognition of fund development as a Kingdom vocation contributing to World Renew’s ministry.
  2. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within teams.
  3. Ability to articulate a biblical worldview and explain how World Renew embodies this in its mission.
  4. Knowledge of the Reformed faith and tradition is recommended; working knowledge of the Christian Reformed Church is an asset.

  7. Self-directed with strong ability to prioritize in a multi-task environment.
  8. Proven experience in donor relationship building and securing legacy/planned gifts.
  9. Well-developed interpersonal skills, ability to express ideas clearly verbally and in writing, as well as listening with sensitivity.
  10. Proficiency in Salesforce or other Customer Relationship Management programs.
  11. Flexible and adaptable team player.
  12. Ability to maintain confidentiality of donor information.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor’s degree is required in sales, marketing, communications or another related field.
  2. A minimum of 3 years of work experience in fundraising and/or gift planning.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Significant computer-based work and virtual communication.
  • Travel for at least 20% of the time to engage with donors.
  • Occasional meetings in the United States and Canada, as required. Occasional travel outside North America may be required.
