Location: Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation

Position Type: Full-Time with benefits, working from the Foundation office in downtown Collingwood with frequent meetings and events outside of office. Occasional work from home flexibility.

Position Summary

The Philanthropy Officer is an exciting new role driving major gifts in support of the Foundation’s top priorities, beginning with the transformational Tomorrow’s Hospital campaign. With outstanding relationship‑building skills, the Officer will cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts of $10,000+ while inspiring donors to invest in our community’s future. As a key member of a dynamic, mission‑driven team, this role collaborates with colleagues and volunteers to advance campaign initiatives, strengthen community partnerships, and deliver exceptional donor experiences. Reporting to the Director, Philanthropy, the Officer helps achieve ambitious revenue goals and elevate the Foundation’s impact. The projected start date is in March, 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Major Gift Fundraising

  • Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, primarily at the $10,000+ level.
  • Develop and implement individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings, presentations, and donor engagement activities.
  • Support an assigned portfolio of Campaign Ambassadors to advance donor engagement efforts.

Donor Stewardship & Administration

  • Ensure timely and meaningful stewardship of major donors based on established activity matrix.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the donor database (Raiser’s Edge).

Community Engagement

  • Represent the Foundation at community events, hospital tours, and donor functions.
  • Build strong relationships with local businesses and service clubs, engaging them as donors.
  • Lead grant writing for campaign opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in fundraising, business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in major gift fundraising, sales or donor relations.
  • Proven success in securing philanthropic gifts or new customers, and managing ongoing relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in donor/customer management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience in non-profit, hospital or healthcare fundraising.
  • Knowledge of planned giving.
  • Familiarity with South Georgian Bay communities.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge database.
  • CFRE designation or progress toward CFRE certification.
  • Success soliciting and securing foundation or corporate grants.
