Position Title: Personal Support Worker (PSW) Student
Placement Type: In person
Location: 3333 Finch Ave East
Start Date: Tuesday September 02, 2025
End Date: Friday December 19, 2025
Placement Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Reports to: Living Well Manager
Responsibilities:

Assist clients during mealtimes, including light preparation, serving lunch, and monitoring for safety

Provide personal care support, including toileting
-
Assist with safe transferring and positioning of clients

Escort and support clients using mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, or canes
-
Help with the implementation of daily programs, including games, recreational activities, crafts, and chair exercises

Foster a welcoming and engaging environment for clients

Adhere to the organization’s safety policies and procedures, including compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), and internal policies on Patient & Client Safety and Health and Safety
Skills & Qualifications:
-
To be eligible for a student placement, you must be enrolled in an approved Personal Support Worker (PSW) program and be in good academic standing.

Strong organizational and time management skills

Effective verbal and written communication

Ability to exercise good professional judgment
-
Compassion, patience, and respect for seniors and diverse needs
-
Willingness to learn and adapt to changing client needs
-
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Working Conditions:
-
Sitting in front of the computer terminal for long periods of time
-
May have frequent work interruptions
-
Extended hours up to 4:00 p.m. may be available if required for placement completion
Supervision and Evaluation:
-
Supervision and support will be provided by the Living Well Manager and PSW staff.

Please note, supervision is not conducted by a Registered Nurse (RN).
Other:

Vulnerable Service Sector Check screening is mandatory.

Proof of full vaccination or Medical Exemption Certificate is mandatory.

Must be 18 years or older.

The placement does not include:
-
Administration or reminding of medications
-
Bathing or showering assistance
-
Hair or nail care services
