We are seeking a hands-on People & Culture Director to provide operational leadership across recruitment, onboarding, engagement, documentation, and internal systems. This role is central to building and maintaining the processes, tools, and infrastructure that support EF’s people and programs—particularly the EF Connect mentorship platform. The Director will oversee functional execution across HR and administration and work closely with committee leads to ensure cohesion, clarity, and impact across all people-related initiatives.

Mandate: the People & Culture Director is responsible for the end-to-end volunteer lifecycle and operational systems that power our people function. This includes enabling cross-functional hiring, leading people operations and HR systems, and supporting administrative structure to enhance capacity, compliance, and volunteer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational oversight across Talent Acquisition, People Operations, HR Project Support, and Organizational Development & Culture
  • Manage a team of HR and Admin Leads, ensuring clear scopes, task execution, and collaborative delivery of goals
  • Streamline workflows and develop SOPs for recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and performance tracking
  • Lead documentation, admin systems, access tracking, and coordination tools to support org-wide operations
  • Partner with Legal & Compliance to ensure HR practices follow EF’s policies, confidentiality expectations, and Canadian regulatory standards
  • Implement and improve HR systems and platforms (e.g., Airtable, Notion, Google Workspace) to enable data integrity, access control, and team productivity
  • Ensure all people projects and cross-functional initiatives are executed on schedule and tied to EF’s 2025 operational roadmap
  • Support internal reporting through dashboards, trackers, and audit checklists for HR and Admin operations
  • Attend weekly HR & Admin team syncs and present monthly operational updates to the Interim Executive Director of Operations

Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of experience in human resources, including leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to manage and integrate cross-functional teams, particularly in a volunteer-led or nonprofit environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, recruitment, compliance, and people operations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, mentor, and influence a diverse team.
  • Experience with organizational development, risk management, and creating a positive organizational culture.
  • Familiarity with HRIS, performance management systems, and exploring new HR technologies to enhance organizational impact.
  • Ability to provide strategic guidance to executive leadership on people-related issues and organizational growth.

Benefits:

  • Empowering emerging adults with their growth and development
  • Innovating the movement towards mental wellness
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary senior board members
  • Growing your professional network
  • Room for advancement and growth within the organization
