The Volunteer’s Role

Cuso International is seeking a candidate interested in participating in an international volunteer program whose goal is to contribute to the development and empowerment of women, girls, and people living in poverty and vulnerable situations in Latin America. The Country Office is looking for one volunteer with the knowledge required to reach potential companies that align with the demand for specialized services offered by Cuso International within the framework of inclusive employment strategies and new strategic lines of the Canadian government in relation to its private companies in Central America.

This volunteer placement seeks to map private sector companies in Central America that are predominantly Canadian-based, enabling Cuso to offer them the capabilities we have as an organization to work together and develop an approach strategy.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Evaluate the existing level of support from the private sector for volunteerism, identifying obstacles and strategies for enhancing this support through research and consultations with prominent businesses and industry organizations.
  • Identify and evaluate potential partners that align with our organizational goals and values, ensuring a strategic fit for collaborative opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial outreach strategy aimed at engaging these potential partners, fostering meaningful relationships, and ultimately driving business growth through strategic alliances.
  • Incorporate opportunities for private-sector involvement in all projects and programs.
  • Craft work proposals alongside interested companies.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A university degree or comparable experience in relevant fields such as marketing, industry association management, fundraising, communications, business, volunteer management or development, and non-profit management is required.

Desirable Background

  • Business experience, or previous experience that demonstrates an ability to understand and respond to the interests of the private sector.
  • Experience in program development and managing complex projects under tight timelines.
  • Ability to develop compelling arguments, based on self-interest, to enlist participants and supporters.
  • Ability to work closely with a small, motivated team in a sometimes complex environment.
  • Flexible and adaptable in grasping and responding to cultural differences in a new setting.
  • Knowledgeable in office and presentation software.

What’s in it for YOU? A life-changing experience!
