About Us

Art With A Heart Inc. (AWAH) is a Canadian Registered Charity celebrating 16 years of creative impact. Based

in the heart of Durham Region, we deliver inclusive, expressive arts-based programs that foster well-being and

connection. Our work spans all ages and backgrounds, with a special focus on marginalized communities—

supporting individuals in shelters, youth outreach, mental health transitions, seniors’ centers, and more.

The Role

We’re seeking a Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our passionate team. Reporting to the Founder and Board of

Directors, this role is essential to maintaining the financial health and transparency of our organization.

Responsibilities


• Maintain financial records from ledger entries to trial balance


• Manage accounts receivable and payable


• Prepare and process deposits


• Run a small payroll


• Ensure timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual remittances and reports


• Generate financial reports for internal use


• Coordinate annual audit and liaise with auditors


• Support annual budget preparation and presentation

Qualifications


• Degree or certificate in accounting/bookkeeping or equivalent experience


• 3–5 years bookkeeping/accounting experience (non-profit sector preferred)


• Familiarity with regulations governing charities


• Proficiency in QuickBooks


• Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace


• Excellent written and verbal communication


• Ability to work with diverse populations


• Strong organizational and financial management skills


• Professional confidentiality and people skills


• Self-directed and reliable
