Position: PAR Court Intake & Probation Referral Worker

Program/Service: PAR Centralised Intake and Referral Services

Function: The purpose of this position is to complete PAR Court intakes and refer individuals on bail or

probation with Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence charges to the PAR program best matched to their

counselling needs. This position involves using trauma-informed, client-centered, and anti-oppressive approaches to motivate client accountability.

Schedule: Full time - 37.50 hours per week Mondays to Fridays

Start Date: July 29, 2025

Salary: Starting at $25.60 per hour plus a competitive benefits package

Location: Onsite - The Ontario Court of Justice – Toronto, 10 Armoury St. Toronto

Reports to: Director of Justice and Court Programs/Team Lead, PAR Program

Responsibilities and Authority:

 To work co-operatively with MAG, Crown Attorneys, Defence/Duty Council, Probation Officers, VWAP,

court staff, Police and all PAR provider agencies.

 To review court and probation referrals and determine eligibility for PAR enrollment.

 To conduct client intakes at the OCJ-T using MIT and TVIC models.

 To determine the appropriate PAR program to meet client’s specific needs.

 Complete all referral requirements as per bail or probation orders to PAR agencies.

 To provide immediate crisis support and resources whenever the need arises.

 To assess and determine if additional supports are required for clients on bail or on probation, e.g. housing, mental health support, substance use treatment, etc.

 To maintain accurate documentation/records required by the program i.e. client database, client files, statistical records.

 To assist in other duties as required from time to time.

 To attend and participate in all staff meetings, supervisory meetings and case conferences.

 To work in collaboration with the CIRS team to maintain a high degree of professionalism and accountability as JHST staff serving the community.

Qualifications:

 Post secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline (i.e. Social work, social services, criminology,

psychology, women and gender studies, etc.).

 Ability to speak, read and write French fluently is an asset.

 Minimum of at least 2 years’ employment experience in the criminal justice, anti-violence or related social service sector is required.

 Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability while working in a fast paced environment and paying attention to detail is required.

 Skilled to provide brief assessments to match referral appropriately while identifying immediate needs/barriers such as homelessness, addictions and mental health is required.

 Understanding of IPV related policies and procedures of local police, crown attorneys, courts and probation as they relate to the prosecution and management of IPV offences is required.

 Knowledge of current evidence-based treatment modalities related to IPV/GBV, in addition to addictions, male socialization, the dynamics of violence and abuse, power and control and the effects of abuse on victims/survivors is an asset.

 Knowledge of IPV/GBV/DV and intersecting systemic issues is required.

 Multi-Ethnic/Multi-Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity, Diversity, and Inclusion is required.

 Knowledge of community resources is preferred.

 Ability to work independently in a satellite program is required.

 Proven personal, organizational and writing skills is required.

 Ability to use Microsoft software is required.

 Police check with vulnerable sector screening is required.

 Crisis Prevention/Intervention Training is an asset.

 Valid First Aid/CPR is required.

 Mental Health First Aid and/or ASIST Training is preferred.
