The end of life is a significant stage in a person's journey, often filled with many emotions and thoughts. One of the volunteers' most valuable contributions is to be a listener. This supportive presence is part of the patient and family’s team without being a medical team member. Volunteers offer companionship, emotional support, encouragement, comfort, and assistance to individuals facing death and their families.
To schedule your interview, please complete the following steps:
1. Submit your online application and register for an orientation.
2. Attend a Baycrest Volunteer Orientation.
3. Complete the online eLearning modules. A link will be emailed to you after the orientation session. The modules cover:
5. Submit a completed and physician-signed immunization record, also downloadable from our website.
6. Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (two doses).
7. If you are 18 or older, submit a police check, including a vulnerable sector screening. For forms and more information, please email or call volunteer services. You will be reimbursed for this cost after six months of volunteering.
8. Submit proof of a current flu vaccine if you wish to volunteer between December 1 and April

- Infection Prevention and Control for Volunteers
- Managing Responsive Behaviors
- Patient Safety
- Privacy for Volunteers
- Workplace Violence, Workplace Harassment, and Domestic Violence
