Position Title: Email & Communications Coordinator (Intern)

Location: Hybrid (Remote with occasional in-person meetings/events as required) Type:

Full-Time Term Contract (8–16 weeks, May–August 2026; dependent on Canada Summer Jobs funding approval)

Wage: In accordance with Canada Summer Jobs guidelines

Start Date: Tentatively May 2026 (subject to funding confirmation)

This summer position is funded through the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs Program. Start and end dates are subject to confirmation and funding approval.

About the Role

Under the supervision of the Communications team, the Email & Communications Coordinator Intern will support digital marketing initiatives, internal communications, donor engagement strategies, and employer branding efforts.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain real-world experience in nonprofit communications, campaign strategy, content creation, and marketing analytics while contributing to a mission that supports Canada’s veterans.

Key Responsibilities

Email & Digital Marketing

  • Assist in developing and executing email campaigns to engage donors and supporters
  • Support segmentation, automation, and donor journey flows to improve engagement and retention
  • Develop and analyze email performance reports, including open rates, click-through rates, and conversions
  • Research compelling subject lines and messaging trends to increase engagement

Content Creation & Branding

  • Create engaging content for LinkedIn and Instagram aligned with VHC’s brand voice
  • Design visuals and write compelling copy with clear calls to action
  • Support employer branding initiatives and internal communications
  • Assist with digital campaign assets, including web banners and promotional graphics
  • Help coordinate swag ordering, event posters, and internal branding materials
  • Connect with team members to gather employee stories and mission-driven content

Community Engagement & Growth

  • Develop strategies to increase email subscriptions through social media
  • Support coordination of internal events, including logistics, communications, and engagement planning

Market & Trend Research

  • Research nonprofit and digital marketing trends and recommend applications for VHC’s audience
  • Identify new tools, content strategies, and audience engagement opportunities

Who You Are

You are a creative and motivated individual, eager to build experience in communications, marketing, or nonprofit development and want to apply your skills to a meaningful cause.

You are:

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
  • A strong writer with attention to detail
  • Comfortable using social media platforms professionally
  • Organized and able to manage multiple deadlines
  • Analytical and curious about performance metrics and optimization
  • Passionate about community impact and supporting veterans

Experience with email platforms, Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, and analytics tools is considered an asset.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible under the Canada Summer Jobs program, candidates must:

  • Age (as required by Canada Summer Jobs eligibility).
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada
