Advocacy and Outreach Manager

Summary:

Canadian Parents for French (CPF), BC & Yukon branch, is searching for an Advocacy &

Outreach Manager. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate with leadership aspirations who

is ready to work with close to 40 volunteer chapters and support thousands of CPF members

across British Columbia and the Yukon.

About the role: The Advocacy & Outreach Manager's responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to:

Chapter Development, Engagement & Support

● Assist chapter volunteers with volunteer recruitment and succession planning, local advocacy issues, event planning, financial management, strategic

communications, chapter meetings and reporting requirements.

● Provide regular guidance and support to chapters through one-on-one meetings, teleconference calls, emails, etc.

● Support the development of new CPF chapters. ● Visit and work to revitalize CPF chapters. ● Manage all chapter annual reporting by updating online reporting forms,

collecting annual financial and activity reports from our chapters, and

tabulating results.

● Coordinate the development and shipment to chapters of branding assets and promotional materials.

● Implement and oversee volunteer management software. ● Develop, design, and present workshops at regional and annual conferences. ● Train chapter and event volunteers, conduct membership satisfaction surveys. ● Identify policies that hinder French as a second language programs and access

to those programs and work with the Executive Director to educate and

advocate for changes

Member Recruitment and Retention

● Assist chapters with the annual Membership Drive. ● Develop and implement membership recruitment and retention strategies. ● Send Associate Member Organizations (AMOs) a membership renewal invoice annually

during membership drive.

● Pull membership lists from the national membership database and send chapters their most up-to-date membership list.

● Manage member contact lists.

Public Advocacy & Outreach

● Respond to general inquiries for information. ● Research emerging issues and develop action plans. ● Support branch advocacy initiatives. ● Help chapters identify advocacy issues in their communities. ● Direct and/or support chapters on advocacy issues that occur at the local,

provincial, or national levels.

Organizational support

● Participate in weekly staff meetings. ● Assist with administrative tasks as required. ● Assist in managing promotional giveaways. ● Work collaboratively with other branches and the national office to coordinate advocacy

efforts

About You:

● A hands-on self-starter who exhibits a proactive mindset with excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

● Relationship-building and influencing skills, and the ability to effectively manage through change and growth.

● Strategic thinker and creative problem solver who thrives in environments that require flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to change.

● Strong organizational skills, able to take initiative, manage deadlines and work well independently and within a team.

● Experience connecting with stakeholder groups, and ability to build rapport and credibility with staff and volunteers.

● Bilingual (French and English) with ability to participate in French and English meetings and respond orally and in writing in both languages.

What you bring:

● Minimum of 5 years related experience with progressive responsibilities; including a minimum of 3 years in a management or supervisory capacity.

● Experience working in a non-profit environment preferred. ● Computer literacy and database management skills. ● Willingness and availability to travel and to work flexible hours. ● Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
