Project Summary

Habitat for Humanity Victoria (HHV) is launching the Orono Capital Project to improve visibility, safety, and curb appeal at our Langford property (Orono Avenue). The project will deliver key exterior upgrades, including building repairs, landscaping, lighting, security, and site improvements.

We are seeking a Project Manager to coordinate planning, vendor engagement, and execution to ensure the work is completed on time and to a high standard.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience, preferably in construction, facilities, or capital improvement projects
  • Strong skills in budget management and cost control for small to mid-sized projects
  • Experience with contractor/vendor management, including procurement and oversight of trades (e.g., siding, landscaping, electrical, paving, security)
  • Familiarity with permitting, safety, and compliance requirements related to property renovations
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to coordinate stakeholders and report progress clearly
  • Experience working with or within the not-for-profit or community services sector is desirable

Estimated Time Commitment

  • Start date: November 01, 2025
  • End date: December 31, 2025
  • 4 – 6 hours/week

Scope of Work

The volunteer Project Manager will oversee the Orono Capital Renovation Project at Habitat for Humanity Victoria’s property on Orono Avenue, Langford, BC. The project will focus on enhancing the property’s visibility, safety, and functionality through exterior renovations.

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring all activities needed to deliver the improvements within scope, schedule, and budget. This includes working closely with HHV leadership, engaging and supervising external contractors, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain a project plan outlining scope, schedule, budget, and resource requirements
  • Coordinate procurement and vendor selection for repairs and improvements (siding, landscaping, lighting, security, drainage, sidewalks, parking lot lines, and gate repairs)
  • Monitor contractor performance, conduct site visits as needed, and ensure adherence to budget and quality standards
  • Track project progress and risks, implementing adjustments where necessary to stay within constraints
  • Monitoring project progress, managing risks, and addressing any issues that arise
  • Provide clear and timely communication and status updates to HHV staff and leadership
  • Document sustainability considerations to support long-term maintenance of the property

  • Project Implementation Plan with timeline and budget tracking
  • Risk and Resource Management Plan
  • Regular status reports for HHV leadership

Accountability

The PM volunteer will have end-end accountability on project deliverables, reporting to the HHV Director of Retail Operations & Business Development, Frank Baker. Monitoring and support throughout the project will be provided by PMV VI Director Noble Hurst.

Benefits

The Client will provide a letter of recommendation to the PM volunteer at the successful conclusion of the project and serve as a reference.

Additional Information

Project Management Volunteers (PMV) Sponsored Project

This is a PMV sponsored project. The Project Manager will enter into a 3-way partnership between the Client organization, the Project Manager, and PMV. This will include additional responsibilities and benefits for the Project Manager.
