Organiser–Services

The British Columbia Federation of Students is seeking candidates for the position of Organiser–Services, based in New Westminster. The Organiser–Services plays a key role in coordinating and advancing the Federation’s core services, working closely with staff and full-time elected students to support the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of services across the organisation’s 14 affiliated students’ unions throughout British Columbia. This position supports both the day-to-day implementation of services and the long-term planning and expansion of service offerings to meet the evolving needs of students.

Hours per Week:

40 hours, in-person (flexibility required, some evening and weekend work)

Term:

This position is classified as a permanent

Start Date:

The target start date is April 30, 2026

Affiliation:

Federation staff are unionised with CUPE 2396

Compensation:

$50.34 per hour plus applicable benefits per the collective agreement

Responsibilities:

The duties of the Organiser–Services will include:

  • Coordinating, implementing and assisting with the development of Federation services, including but not limited to:
    • Handbook and Dayplanner Service;
    • Student Discount Program;
    • Ethical Bulk Purchasing Network;
    • BC Student Health Consortium; and
    • Skills Development Symposium.
  • Managing and negotiating contracts with service providers, external partners, vendors, and affiliated students’ unions;
  • Liaising with service providers and affiliated students’ unions during the production and implementation of services;
  • Supporting the production stages of services like the Handbook and Dayplanner and Bulk Purchasing Program, including assisting affiliated students’ unions with ordering, design, delivery, and troubleshooting issues;
  • Supporting the on-campus delivery of the services of affiliated students’ unions, including training and troubleshooting issues as they arise;
  • Improving the student discount program through expansion of province-wide discount partnerships, and supporting discount solicitation of affiliated students’ unions;
  • Reviewing, analysing, and reporting on Federation services’ efficacy, analytics, and stakeholder feedback to identify improvements or the development of new services;
  • Coordinating the design, production, and distribution of promotional materials for existing services, including physical and digital materials, to increase membership awareness;
  • Developing and implementing marketing, outreach, and promotion plans to increase awareness, uptake, and engagement with Federation services;
  • Assisting with the coordination of Federation meetings, events, and initiatives, including general meetings, Executive Committee meetings, and external engagements, and attending those meetings as needed;
  • Supporting the day-to-day operations of the Federation office and working collectively with staff and elected representatives; and
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of at least two years of post-secondary education;
  • Demonstrated experience developing, coordinating and implementing programs or services in a multi-stakeholder environment;
  • Experience in customer service, member service, or client-facing roles;
  • Experience in marketing, outreach, or promotion of programs, services, or initiatives;
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, including the ability to manage logistics, timelines, and stakeholder relationships;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with diverse audiences;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a non-hierarchal, team based environment;
  • Ability to work in a highly computerised (Macintosh) office environment, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new tools and systems; and
  • Willingness to travel throughout the province as required.

Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following additional qualifications:

  • Diploma, bachelor’s degree or post-graduate education;
  • Experience working within a students’ union, non-profit organisation, labour union, or similar membership-based organisation;
  • Experience coordinating vendors, suppliers, or external partners;
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (particularly InDesign and Illustrator);
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Non-English language skills (French, Mandarin, Punjabi, Tagalog, and/or Cantonese)
