
Operations Manager
The Eastern Synod is seeking a collaborative and systems-focused Operations Manager to support the effective administration and organizational sustainability of the Synod office. This role provides operational coordination across financial administration, human resources, governance support, technology systems, and facilities, strengthening organizational effectiveness in support of the Synod’s mission and ministry.
The Operations Manager works closely with the Bishop, Treasurer, and Synod staff, supervises the Finance Administrator, and supports organizational systems, processes, and policies that enable effective ministry delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate financial processes, budgeting timelines, reporting, and grant documentation
- Supervise financial administration workflows and support accounting and payroll coordination
- Coordinate HR administration including recruitment, onboarding, and employee records
- Maintain governance and policy documentation and support leadership reporting
- Liaise with IT providers and support organizational technology systems
- Coordinate administrative systems, facilities, and property-related documentation
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in nonprofit, church, public-sector, or values-based organizational operations or administration
- Experience supporting budgeting, financial reporting, or accounting processes
- Strong organizational, analytical, and systems coordination skills
- Experience working within a governance-based environment is an asset
- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
Education
- Diploma or degree in business administration, accounting, finance, nonprofit management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Training or experience in nonprofit finance, governance, or organizational operations
- Professional designation or progress toward designation considered an asset
